Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Corey Jr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Bowmen! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Corey Jr doesn't manage to clinch there - Bowmen circles away.
Corey Jr throws a sloppy head kick and Bowmen moves out of range easily. Corey Jr misses with a head kick.
Corey Jr gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Bowmen has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Corey Jr is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Corey Jr unloads a knee to the mid-section. Bowmen lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Bowmen tries to circle away but Corey Jr has him pinned against the cage. Bowmen can't break the clinch.
Corey Jr wants a takedown.
Nice body punch from Corey Jr - that landed with a thud.
Corey Jr putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Bowmen in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Corey Jr is trying to drag Bowmen to the mat but Bowmen just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Corey Jr lands a body punch. Corey Jr breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Corey Jr pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bowmen walks into a left hand. Corey Jr misses with a few strikes there.

Bowmen throws a head kick but Corey Jr moves out of range.
Bowmen throws a right hand that Corey Jr ducks under and follows up with a left that Corey Jr also avoids with ease. Bowmen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Bowmen fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Corey Jr lands with a slapping head kick. Bowmen fails to land the takedown. Mike Corey Jr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Bowmen. Corey Jr fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Corey Jr stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Corey Jr wants it to stay on the feet. Bowmen has taken the fight to the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bowmen tries for a takedown. No joy.
Corey Jr gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Bowmen regains guard.
Corey Jr postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Corey Jr is in close to Bowmen's body, working some short punches and elbows. Corey Jr drops back looking for a leg! Bowmen is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bowmen manages to kick Corey Jr off! Corey Jr jumps back into Bowmen's guard. Corey Jr drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Corey Jr jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Corey Jr stands up over Bowmen, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Bowmen looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Corey Jr landing with the ground and pound. Corey Jr sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Bowmen's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Corey Jr prevents Bowmen from improving his position. Corey Jr sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Bowmen defending well though. Corey Jr maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Bowmen could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Corey Jr has cracked it and Bowmen is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Corey Jr!
