Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Flaubert Canto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wagner Amore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Flaubert Canto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wagner Amore!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Edson Gomes and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Canto gets a takedown into half guard.
Amore wants to get back to full guard.

Amore makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Canto dives in and scores a takedown into Amore's guard.
Canto has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Canto slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Amore wants to sweep but no luck.
Amore can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Canto controls the pace.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The ref stands the fighters back up because Flaubert Canto just wasn't active enough.

Canto is looking to stand up but Amore isn't so interested in that idea.
Canto keeping moving, preventing Amore from controlling successfully.

Canto does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

and Canto counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Amore not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee asks Canto politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Canto prefers to stall for the moment though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Flaubert Canto just wasn't active enough.

Canto dives in and scores a takedown into Amore's guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Canto stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Amore swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Amore gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Canto counters with a nice double leg into side control. Amore won't be happy with that.

You can see the frustration on Amore's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Amore seems a little lost for a moment, as Canto dominates the positioning.
Amore dodges the ground and pound from Canto.

Canto decides to stand back up.

Amore gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Canto to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Amore is rocked!
Flaubert Canto overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Amore is trying to control Canto's posture but Canto avoids it.
Amore is still in real trouble! Can Canto finish him?
Amore takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
A lull in the action here as Canto stalls from top position.
Canto has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Amore seems to have recovered his senses.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Amore is trying to control Canto's posture but Canto avoids it.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Canto throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Canto.

Canto closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Amore quickly recovers to half guard.
Canto is taking a breather. Amore says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Canto looks to land a strike but Amore avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Canto tries to free his leg and advance position but Amore is retaining full guard.
Canto might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Canto slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

We're going to have a standup here because Flaubert Canto wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Amore tries for a takedown but Canto circles away easily

and Canto decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Amore's guard.
Amore takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Canto is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Flaubert Canto is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Flaubert Canto has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Canto looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Amore!

Amore tries to reverse the position but Canto maintains control.
Canto takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Canto prevents Amore from getting the reversal.

Canto's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Amore goes for a takedown attempt but Canto pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Well Canto has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
