15 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hyun Kim! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rolls Royce! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Ren Mimura and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kim fails with an attempt to clinch.
Hyun Kim seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kim scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Kim moves to clinch but Royce breaks away and Royce counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kim won't be happy with that. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Royce working away. The strikes coming from Royce are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Royce tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Royce controlling the position from side mount. Kim struggling a bit here. Royce is working Kim over with some ground and pound from side control. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kim wants to control but Royce postures up. Royce trying to control the position but Kim is working away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Check out the look on Royce's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Royce is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kim has escaped the position, nice work there. Kim struggling a bit here. Royce has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Kim is looking to regain half guard here but Royce keeps moving and retains side control. Kim struggling a bit here. Royce trying to control the action but Kim is working from the bottom. Kim is trying to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Royce swings around for an armbar but Kim sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Royce's guard. Kim trying to control but Royce is working from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Royce throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kim works over Royce with some ground and pound from guard. Kim postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Kim has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kim is looking to work some ground and pound but Royce has wrist control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kim has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Royce to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Kim is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Royce pulls down on the head and he's put Kim to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Rolls Royce! Rolls Royce is the new lightweight champion!
