Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Davi Silva! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Wand! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Alexandre Firmino and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wand cracks Silva with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Wand wants to clinch and Silva counters into the clinch. Nicely done. A short uppercut from Silva. Wand wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Silva stalling in the clinch.
Silva comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Silva breaks from the clinch.
Wand tries to clinch but Silva is having none of it. Wand slaps away a takedown attempt from Silva, before circling back to the center of the mat. Silva looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Wand changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Silva closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Wand's guard. Wand looks gassed! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Wand working a defensive guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Silva looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Wand utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Silva is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Silva landing with the ground and pound. Silva keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Wand's head. Silva has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Silva is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Silva's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Silva content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Silva chips away with some ground and pound. Silva not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Silva pushes down on Wand's leg and manages to get into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Silva seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Silva seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Wand for as long as he can get away with. Silva seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Wand is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
