Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Zeus Mesus!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Mesus is trying to get back to full guard.
White wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mesus keeps working.
White is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Mesus is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Mesus tries to roll over but White keeps him under control.
White knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mesus on the ground.
Mesus is not content to let White control the position.
We're going to have a standup here because John White wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
White fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mesus to the ground. White is now in Mesus's guard.
White tries to stand but Mesus is controlling from the bottom.
White trying to control but Mesus is working from the bottom.
White content to stall in guard here.

Mesus keeping moving, preventing White from controlling successfully.
The ref stands the fighters back up because John White just wasn't active enough.
The fight stays on the outside here - White looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
White misses with an attempted mid kick.
White doesn't manage to clinch there - Mesus circles away.
Mesus throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. White was covering up waiting for the punch and Mesus finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Mesus wants to control from the top but White keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mesus slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mesus drops back looking for a leg! White is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and White manages to kick Mesus off! Mesus jumps back into White's guard.

Mesus is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
White not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A clash of legs there as Mesus blocks the low kick.
White shoots in and bounces Mesus off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Mesus working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. White doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. White manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
White won't allow Mesus to get back to his feet.
White wants to get up but he can't break Mesus's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
White trying to control but Mesus is working from the bottom.

Mesus is trying to control the position but White postures up.
Mesus keeping moving, preventing White from controlling successfully.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of John White.
White tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Mesus decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in White's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mesus works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Mesus is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Mesus wants to work for an arm triangle but White is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
White is trying to maintain the position but Mesus is very close to passing his half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Zeus Mesus will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
White tries to clinch up but Mesus circles away and keeps his distance.
Mesus gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows White to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Mesus has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. White doesn't defend quickly enough and Mesus has managed to lock this one up! Can White escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Mesus on a fantastic submission victory.
