The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Florendo wants to clinch up but Christian keeps it at a distance.
Kenny Florendo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Christian moves into range and clinches up with Florendo.

Florendo tightens his grip and picks Christian up, before dumping him to the ground. Christian manages to land in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Florendo drops back looking for a leg! Christian is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Christian manages to kick Florendo off! Florendo jumps back into Christian's guard.
Florendo is looking to work some ground and pound but Christian has wrist control.
Christian is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Christian wants to stand and escape but Florendo is having none of it.

Christian is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Florendo pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Christian is keeping the position for now.
Christian will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Christian uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Florendo has time to react.

Christian throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Florendo's waist but Florendo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Christian off to one side.
Christian is breathing heavily.
Florendo lands a high kick!

Florendo closes the distance and clinches.
Christian misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Florendo ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Florendo no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Florendo is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Florendo has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Florendo is pushing Christian up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Christian breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Christian will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Christian looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Florendo is fending him off so far but Christian persists. Nope, Florendo circles away and we're back to standing.

Florendo closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Florendo lands in his opponent's guard.

Florendo stands up over Christian, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Florendo forces his way into half guard.
Florendo scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Florendo looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Christian with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Florendo in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Christian tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Florendo!
