Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randall Cunningham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Braxton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Cunningham might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Whatever by Godsmack. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Braxton shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cunningham but Cunningham pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Cunningham misses with a double jab.
Braxton closes the distance and clinches up with Cunningham, looking for a takedown. Braxton pushes Cunningham against the cage but Cunningham circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Cunningham gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
so Braxton counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Braxton prevents Cunningham from getting back to his feet.

Braxton shoots in and drives through. Cunningham sprawls well.

Braxton has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Cunningham's face.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Braxton shoots in looking for a takedown. Cunningham tries to sprawl out of it but Braxton keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cunningham manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Braxton tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cunningham swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Braxton feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Cunningham wants to get back to his feet but Braxton is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Braxton stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cunningham swivels though and keeps the full guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Marcus Braxton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Cunningham's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
