Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nannie Doss! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vincent Christmas! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Anthony Taglia and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Doss clinches with his opponent.
Doss manages to break the clinch.
Doss tries to clinch up and Christmas counters with a left and a right that stings Doss. Christmas takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Christmas misses with a jab, cross combination.
Doss's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Christmas connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Doss scrambles back to his feet. Doss bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Christmas's head backwards. Doss has Christmas up against the cage in a clinch.
Christmas has clasped his hands together around Doss's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Christmas is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Doss has escaped the position, nice work there. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Doss tries to get out of the position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Doss rushes Christmas and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Christmas blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Christmas has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Doss is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Doss pushes Christmas back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Doss misses with a hook from the clinch. Christmas tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Doss just stands there and leans against the cage. Doss struggles to land a body shot inside as Christmas controls his hands.
Christmas is trying to break free. Christmas prevents a body shot from Doss. Christmas escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Christmas throws a series of punches but Doss moves out of range. Doss is looking to clinch. Christmas takes a swing at Doss's ribcage but misses. Christmas misses with a few strikes there.

This has been an exciting period of action! Christmas fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Nannie Doss has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vincent Christmas. Doss fails in his attempt to clinch. Doss wants to clinch but Christmas slips to the side and Christmas counters with a left to the body. Doss with a hook. Christmas throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Doss was covering up waiting for the punch and Christmas finishes the takedown easily into guard. Doss working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Christmas.

Christmas won't allow Doss to get back to his feet. Christmas missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Doss has a closed guard, preventing Christmas from standing up. Doss keeping moving, preventing Christmas from controlling successfully.

Christmas drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Doss manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Christmas has Doss in his guard. Doss landing with the ground and pound. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Christmas utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Doss is looking to work some ground and pound but Christmas has wrist control. Doss has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Doss throwing strikes but missing. Doss postures up in Christmas's guard and throws a big left but Christmas blocks it. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Doss throwing strikes but missing. Doss throws a strike but Christmas rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Christmas wants to control from the top but Doss keeps moving. That was a close second round but I would say that Nannie Doss will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

That's one minute gone in the round. Doss wants to clinch and Christmas counters with a lovely shot to the body. Christmas shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Christmas postures up in Doss's guard and throws a big left but Doss blocks it. Christmas trying to control the position from guard on top but Doss is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Christmas throws and elbow that misses. Doss uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Christmas's guard. Nice move by Doss! Both fighters are breathing heavily. Doss stands and throws Christmas's legs to the side, diving into side control. Christmas gets back to half guard. Doss thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Christmas's head.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Christmas escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Doss gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Christmas trying to control the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Christmas utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Christmas is trying to control the position but Doss postures up. Christmas escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Doss gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Doss loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Christmas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Doss doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Doss manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Christmas is looking for a triangle but Doss pushes his legs off easily.

He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Doss works his way back into a safe position though. Doss postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Christmas is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Christmas is looking for a triangle but Doss pushes his legs off easily.
Doss keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Christmas's head. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Doss accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Doss working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Christmas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Doss doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position.
