The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rojo is defended easily by Watson.
Rojo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Watson circles away.
Watson connects with a body shot.
Watson throws a hook but Rojo avoids it easily.
Rojo looks for a takedown but Watson sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Poncho Rojo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice jab there from Watson.
Rojo doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Watson lands a jab to the nose.


It looks like Poncho Rojo has been cut.
Rojo has his takedown stuffed
and Watson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Rojo takes the fight into the clinch.

Rojo tries for a takedown but Watson manages to get underhooks.

Rojo has clasped his hands together around Watson's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Watson tries to buck Rojo off but Rojo is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rojo is looking to take a break and control but Watson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Rojo wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Watson, who protects the arm well.

Rojo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Watson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Watson wants to control but Rojo postures up.

Rojo is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Watson has escaped the position, nice work there.

Rojo wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Watson, who protects the arm well.
I wouldn't like to be where Watson is right now.

Rojo is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Watson looks calm but he's in trouble here. Rojo gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Watson is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Rojo lets go of the hold and Watson can pop his arm back in it's socket.
