PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Drysdale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Le Grand Antonio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Drysdale comes into the arena with Jadakiss - The Champ Is Here blaring out of the sound system. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robert Drysdale!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Le Grand Antonio!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Antonio misses with a takedown attempt

and Drysdale counters with a shoot takedown. Antonio fights it but they end up in guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Drysdale avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Drysdale trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Drysdale trying to control the position from guard on top but Antonio is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Drysdale stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Antonio swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Antonio is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Drysdale pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Antonio is keeping the position for now.
Antonio pulls Drysdale in close to his closed guard and prevents Drysdale from doing any damage or advancing position.

Drysdale tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Drysdale has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Antonio looks to move to half guard but instead Drysdale has passed into mount! Damn!

Drysdale has hold of Antonio's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Antonio manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Drysdale is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Antonio can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Antonio is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Drysdale's half guard.

Antonio escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Drysdale gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Antonio looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Drysdale has picked Antonio up and slammed him! Antonio can't keep hold of the triangle and Drysdale manages to pass to side control!

Drysdale goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Antonio has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Drysdale but great work by Antonio.

Robert Drysdale decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
