Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, George Riley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dan Connely! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Riley scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Connely is rocked!
It looks like Dan Connely has been cut. Connely scores with a hook. Connely is still on wobbly legs! Can Riley finish him? Riley throws a head kick but Connely moves out of range.
Connely seems to have recovered his senses. Riley misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Connely.
Connely looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Connely looking to sit in guard and control but Riley gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Connely tries to land a sweep but no joy. Riley wants to control from the top but Connely keeps moving. Riley has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Connely is proving hard to escape from. Riley gets to his feet - Connely follows without any prompting. Connely lands a nice looking body shot.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Connely stuns Riley with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Riley bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Riley wants to clinch up but Connely keeps it at a distance. Connely connects with a crisp jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Riley shoots and misses and Connely counters with a takedown into side control. Riley is breathing heavily. Connely scores with a couple of short elbows. Riley takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Riley takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Connely is chipping away with strikes.
Riley is not content to let Connely control the position. Connely lands a nice forearm strike. Connely advances nicely into full mount. Connely can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Riley is looking to escape. Riley is looking to get to half guard. Connely wants to control the pace but Riley is squirming around nicely. Connely landing strikes from the mount.

Connely is landing with some decent strikes but Riley is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Riley takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Riley keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Connely has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. A nice elbow there by Connely. Connely connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Riley's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Connely lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Riley tries to lock up and control but Connely gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Riley throwing hammer fists to the chest of Connely. What's that going to do exactly? The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Riley taking shots to the head. Riley is wriggling around trying to escape.

Dan Connely dominated that round. The cut man is working on Dan Connely's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Riley shoots in for a takedown but Connely shows good takedown defense. Dan Connely seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Riley is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Riley fails in his attempt to clinch. Riley lunges at Connely with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Connely's hand. Connely thows a body shot but no joy. Connely scores with a jab. Riley acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Connely misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Connely throws a combination. Riley tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Riley chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Connely lands with a nice body punch. Connely wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Riley connects with a solid leg kick. Riley shoots and misses and Connely counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Connely shoots in and bounces Riley off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Connely postures up and lands a big shot to Riley's brow. Riley wants to sweep but no luck. Riley on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Riley tries to get out of the position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Riley is trying to keep Connely in close.
That's one minute gone in the round. Connely trying to control but Riley is working from the bottom. Connely is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Connely won't allow Riley to sweep him here. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Connely accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Riley fails in his attempt to clinch. Riley connects with a high kick. Riley wants to clinch up but Connely keeps it at a distance. Connely misses with a combination
and Riley counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Connely lands a jab to the nose. Riley throws a series of punches but Connely moves out of range. Connely looks to land a combination but Riley avoids it well. Connely misses with a wild combination.
Connely has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Connely shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Riley's guard. Riley will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Connely working some strikes from top position. Riley is trying to control the position but Connely postures up. Riley wants to hit a switch here but Connely passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Riley there! Riley tries to reverse the position but Connely maintains control. Riley wants to control but Connely is having none of it. Riley bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Riley wants to control from the top but Connely keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Connely wants to sweep here but Riley controlling him for the moment. Riley trying to control the position from guard on top but Connely is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Riley stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Connely swivels though and keeps the full guard. Connely wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Riley wants to control from the top but Connely keeps moving. Connely is trying to keep Riley in close.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Riley slips under a jab from Connely. George Riley is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. A left and a right from Riley both land. Nice combination. Connely swats away the attempt to clinch by Riley. Dan Connely seems to be getting the better of the standup. Connely lands an overhand right.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A jab from Connely does it's job there. Excellent takedown into side control there by Riley. Riley takes a little break here. Connely wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Riley decides to stand back up. Riley steps back and let's Connely get back to his feet. Riley moves into the clinch. Riley can't get the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Riley. That's going to take a lot out of him. Connely is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Riley gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Riley wants to get back to striking at distance but Connely won't allow it.

Riley gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Nice jab there from Connely. Connely throws a hook but Riley blocks it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Riley gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Riley not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Connely passes Riley's left leg - he's now in half guard. Connely with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Connely throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Riley moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Connely in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Riley is looking for a triangle but Connely pushes his legs off easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Connely lands a couple of digs. Riley looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Riley wants to get back to his feet but Connely is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Connely postures up in Riley's guard and throws a big left but Riley blocks it.

Riley moves away from the strike by Connely. The crowd cheers as Connely lands an impressive looking overhand right. Riley doesn't seem phased though. Connely throws a hook but Riley blocks it. Riley looks to throw the jab but Connely is out of range. Connely misses with a hook
and Riley counters with a slapping leg kick. Riley fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Connely manages to avoid it. Connely scores with a shot to the body.
Riley uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Connely. Riley misses with a series of wild punches.
Riley lands a jab-cross combination. Connely falls off balance throwing a combination
and Riley makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Riley doesn't manage to clinch there - Connely circles away.
Riley tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Connely counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Riley's guard now. Connely trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Connely's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Connely distracts Riley with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Connely postures up and lands a big shot to Riley's brow. Connely lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Connely with a flurry of punches that miss. Connely trying to control but Riley is working from the bottom. George Riley has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Connely sitting in guard here, content to control. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Connely trying to control but Riley is working from the bottom. Riley working for submissions but it's allowed Connely to get to half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Dan Connely comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Connely winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
