Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Roode (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pence Apene (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Eliza Hachem and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roode fails with a takedown attempt.
Apene shoots in and bounces Roode off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Roode throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Roode has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Roode is trying to keep Apene in close.
Apene pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Roode is keeping the position for now.
Apene decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Apene gets the takedown into side control.
Roode tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Apene wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Apene thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Apene is just content to waste time from the top position. Roode takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Apene seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Roode can't keep his opponent in guard - Apene advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Apene winds up and cracks Roode with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Apene looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Roode with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Apene slips a nice elbow through Roode's hands, connecting with Roode's forehead.
Roode has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Apene is working away from the top position though.

Roode throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Apene really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Roode. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Roode manages to get to full guard.

Apene got a little sloppy there for a moment and Roode has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Apene has managed to get both his arms back between Roode's legs - danger averted.
Roode is breathing heavily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Apene wants to control from the top but Roode keeps moving.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Apene drops back looking for a leg! Roode is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Roode manages to kick Apene off! Apene jumps back into Roode's guard.

Horrible takedown by Roode or perhaps it was just good defense by Apene which made him look bad.
Roode shoots in for a takedown but Apene shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Apene moves into the clinch successfully.
Roode is fighting off a takedown attempt but Apene is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Roode to the mat. Roode regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Roode is on top in guard.

Apene is trying to hold Roode in close to prevent damage but Roode has managed to pass into half guard.
Roode is trying to control the action in half guard but Apene is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Roode drops back looking for a leg! Apene is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Apene manages to kick Roode off! Roode jumps back into Apene's guard.

Apene manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Apene takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Roode has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Apene can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Apene displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Roode.

Apene closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Roode quickly recovers to half guard.

Roode sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Apene taps out!
