Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tor Nansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Doherty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nansen's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, The Prodigy - Thunder. Doherty is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by You can't stand me now. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tor Nansen!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pete Doherty!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Doherty!

Doherty feints and as Nansen raises his hands in defense, Doherty changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Nansen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Nansen is adopting a defensive guard.
Doherty trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Doherty advances to half guard.
Doherty is taking a breather. Nansen says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Nansen is trying to stand.
Doherty trying to pass the guard but Nansen defending well.
Doherty trying to control the action but Nansen is working from the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Doherty fails to land with a series of punches.
Nansen lands with an overhand left.
Doherty fails in his attempt to clinch.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Doherty checks a leg kick.
Nansen throws a looping overhand right but Doherty ducks down to avoid it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Doherty scoring well with a low kick there.
Nansen fails to land the takedown.

Doherty looking to score a takedown here. Nansen is defending well but Doherty drives through and ends up in Nansen's guard.
Doherty trying to control but Nansen is working from the bottom.
Doherty stands and throws Nansen's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Doherty wants to control for a moment but Nansen uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

Doherty trying to control the position from guard on top but Nansen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Doherty sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Nansen's guard.
Doherty wants to advance to full mount but Nansen doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Doherty controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nansen wants to stand up but Doherty is controlling him.
Doherty controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Nansen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Tor Nansen just wasn't active enough.
Nansen chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Doherty can pounce on him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pete Doherty dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Nansen's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Doherty wants to control the pace but Nansen is squirming around nicely.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Doherty tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Pete Doherty has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

and Doherty counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Nansen's guard now.
Doherty looking to sit in guard and control but Nansen gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Doherty throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Nansen escapes and throws Doherty's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Doherty slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Doherty utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Nansen wants to control from the top but Doherty keeps moving.
Doherty wants to sweep here but Nansen controlling him for the moment.

Nansen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Doherty swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Doherty pulls Nansen in close to prevent any damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Doherty is trying to control the position from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pete Doherty showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Nansen shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Doherty eats them both and turns towards Nansen to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Doherty fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Nansen.

Nansen gets tackled into the cage by Doherty. Doherty maintains the clinch.

Nansen's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Doherty digs a right hand underneath Nansen's ribcage. Nansen let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Nansen is trying to break the clinch but Doherty is controlling him.
Doherty tries to throw a body punch but Nansen avoids it by throwing Doherty back against the cage.

Nansen misses with a right hand
and Doherty counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Nansen throws a series of punches but Doherty moves out of range.
A swing and a miss from Nansen.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Doherty, as that shot connected.
Nansen drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Nansen thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Doherty if he has to take too many more of those.
Doherty sizes up Nansen with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Doherty closes the distance looking to clinch
and Nansen counters with a straight right hand.
Nansen misses with a lunging right hand
and Doherty counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Nansen looks to land a left hand but Doherty moved out of range nicely.

Doherty lands with a hook. Nansen tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Nansen moves forwards but Doherty connects with a nice, crisp jab.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

A close third round but Pete Doherty just about did enough to take it.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Nansen on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Nansen cracks Doherty with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Doherty connects with a single shot there.
Doherty uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Nansen.
Doherty takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Doherty throws a sloppy head kick and Nansen moves out of range easily.
Nansen misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

A nice leg kick lands there from Doherty.
Nansen throws a low kick but Doherty avoids it.

Nansen is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Doherty lands a head kick. Nansen smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Nansen pivots, looking for a leg kick but Doherty is out of range and Nansen settles back down.

That kick from Nansen tenderised Doherty's leg. Doherty is trying to keep his angry face on.

Nansen connects with a leg kick. Doherty looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

Nansen has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Doherty finds it's way round the side to connect with Nansen's head.

Nansen throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Doherty stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Nansen does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Nansen smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Doherty moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Nansen sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Tor Nansen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nansen will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

I would just about give that final round to Pete Doherty.
Well Doherty has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
