PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jesper Rush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alan Jefferson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rush comes into the arena with Tom Sawyer - Rush blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jesper Rush!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alan Jefferson!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Yves DeLean and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jefferson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Horrible takedown by Rush or perhaps it was just good defense by Jefferson which made him look bad.
Rush fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jefferson manages to avoid it.

Rush decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Jefferson pushes Rush off and gets back to his feet.
Rush throws the kick towards the body but Jefferson avoids it.
Jefferson fails with the takedown
and Rush counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Jefferson is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Rush thows a left - swing and a miss!
Rush throws a lazy right hand but Jefferson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Rush.
Rush controlling the position.
Jefferson is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Rush in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Rush wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jefferson keeps working.
Jefferson can't do much from the bottom here.
Jefferson is looking to regain half guard here but Rush keeps moving and retains side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Rush lands a decent elbow from side control.
Rush tries to advance to mount but Jefferson denies him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jefferson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Rush changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jefferson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Jefferson is not content to let Rush control the position.

Rush in side control lands a decent elbow.
You can see the frustration on Jefferson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Rush working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rush is breathing heavily.

Rush prevents Jefferson from escaping the position.
Rush throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Rush is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jefferson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Jefferson is trying to control Rush's posture but Rush avoids it.
Rush wants to control but Jefferson is keeping him busy.
Jefferson is looking to regain half guard here but Rush keeps moving and retains side control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Jefferson lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jefferson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Rush counters with a nice uppercut.
Rush avoids a kick to the body.
Rush scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Jefferson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rush as he jumps to the side.
Jesper Rush has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alan Jefferson.
Rush looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Jefferson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Jefferson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Alan Jefferson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rush throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Rush tries to land a leg kick but Jefferson saw it coming and moves away.

Jefferson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Rush has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Rush is looking to improve his position.
It looks like Jefferson is going to stand back up.
Jefferson wants to pass the guard but Rush is defending well.

Jesper Rush overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

enabling Rush to counter with a crisp jab.
Jefferson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Jesper Rush has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alan Jefferson.
Jefferson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Jefferson lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Rush throws a good cross that connects.
Jefferson moves forwards but Rush connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Rush lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Jefferson is not content to let Rush control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rush uses his free foot to push down on Jefferson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jefferson.
Rush moves to the back.

Rush connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Jefferson to escape the position.

Jefferson manages to reverse the position and now he's in Rush's guard. Nice work there by Jefferson.

Rush had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Jefferson is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Rush Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Jefferson's back instead.

Jefferson manages to reverse the position and now he's in Rush's guard. Nice work there by Jefferson.
Rush bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jefferson's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jesper Rush dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Rush shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Rush was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Rush lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Jefferson hang on?

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Jefferson is controlling an arm, preventing Rush from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Rush prevents Jefferson from getting the reversal.

Rush throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Jesper Rush showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Rush has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
