Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bill Goldberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Laid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Goldberg might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to GOLDBERG. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bill Goldberg! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Laid! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Laid tries for a takedown but Goldberg circles away easily and Goldberg counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Goldberg. Goldberg has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Laid is proving hard to escape from. Goldberg trying to control the position from guard on top but Laid is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Laid is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Goldberg wants to control from the top but Laid keeps moving. Goldberg is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Bill Goldberg wasn't doing enough on the ground. Goldberg closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Goldberg trying to advance position but Laid counters by regaining guard. Goldberg got a little sloppy there for a moment and Laid has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Goldberg has managed to get both his arms back between Laid's legs - danger averted. Laid keeping moving, preventing Goldberg from controlling successfully. Laid pulls Goldberg in close to prevent any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Goldberg controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Goldberg wants to control from the top but Laid keeps moving.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Bill Goldberg wasn't doing enough on the ground. Laid shoots and misses so Goldberg counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. This has been an exciting period of action! Goldberg being controlled here momentarily. Goldberg gets to his feet. Laid looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Goldberg is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Laid's half guard. Laid wants to control but Goldberg is keeping busy and won't allow it. Laid wants to improve his position but Goldberg is controlling well.
Goldberg wants to take a breather but Laid is having none of it. Goldberg wants to free his trapped foot but Laid is holding on for dear life with his legs.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Goldberg throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Goldberg stalling. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bill Goldberg. Goldberg shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Laid manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Laid has an active guard here but Goldberg has managed to pass into half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Goldberg tries to stand but can't do so whilst Laid controls his leg. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bill Goldberg dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Goldberg turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Goldberg manages to end up in side control. Laid is looking for a sweep. You can see the frustration on Laid's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Goldberg wants to lay and pray for a moment but Laid keeps working. Laid sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Laid is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Goldberg wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Laid uses the opportunity to regain full guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Goldberg accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Goldberg gets to his feet. Laid looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Goldberg shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Laid napping and manages to drive through into side control! Goldberg wants to lay and pray for a moment but Laid keeps working. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Goldberg stands up and we're back to a striking position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Goldberg clinches with his opponent.
Goldberg has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Laid uses from the top position. This has been an exciting period of action! Laid postures up in Goldberg's guard and throws a big left but Goldberg blocks it. Goldberg has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Laid can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Laid missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Laid with a flurry of punches that miss. Laid throws and elbow that misses. Goldberg uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Laid's guard. Nice move by Goldberg!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Laid trying to keep a closed guard but Goldberg is proving a slippery customer.

Bill Goldberg overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Bill Goldberg has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Laid with a lazy takedown attempt and Goldberg counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Laid is breathing heavily. Goldberg shoots in and bounces Laid off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Goldberg controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Goldberg advances position into side control! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

It looks like Mike Laid has been cut. Goldberg is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Laid can do to turn this around? Goldberg feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Laid is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Goldberg defends well. Bill Goldberg is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Goldberg throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Laid works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
And that's the end of the fight! Bill Goldberg showed his dominance in that final round. Well Goldberg has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
