Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Karva Jorgos!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hong pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Crunch! Hong slams his shin into Jorgos's torso.
Hong misses with a two punch combination.
Hong lands with an overhand left.
Jorgos looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Jorgos misses with an attempted mid kick.
Hong's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Hong duly obliges.


It looks like Karva Jorgos has been cut.
A left lands for Hong.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hong pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Hong bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Jorgos sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Tonichie Hong.
Jorgos has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Hong.
Jorgos wants to land a leg kick but Hong is out of range.
Jorgos tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hong misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Karva Jorgos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jorgos drops his hands momentarily and Hong takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Hong lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Hong takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Hong lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jorgos circles away quickly and effectively.

Jorgos pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Jorgos throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Hong counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Hong misses with an uppercut. Jorgos saw that one coming.

Jorgos walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Hong checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Hong rushes Jorgos and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Hong throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Jorgos blocks it with crossed arms.
Jorgos is trying to maintain a safe position but Hong gets an underhook and turns Jorgos into the cage.

Hong manages to break the clinch.
Tonichie Hong is winning the standup battle so far.
Hong throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Jorgos.
Jorgos tries to land a front kick but Hong steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Hong blocks a head kick by Jorgos.
Jorgos misses with a low kick as Hong jumps back.

Hong pushes Jorgos away with a front kick.
Jorgos is breathing heavily.
Hong scores with a head kick. Jorgos tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Jorgos.
Jorgos is still on wobbly legs! Can Hong finish him?

Hong has taken the fight to the clinch.
Jorgos tries to stall but Hong uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Jorgos seems to have recovered his senses.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Jorgos in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

We're going to have a standup here because Tonichie Hong wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Jorgos sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Hong clinches up with Jorgos and pushes him back against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Jorgos is looking to control Hong's arms but Hong gets an underhook and turns him. Now Jorgos has his back to the cage.
Jorgos is trying to slow the pace down but that's a couple of times in a row that he's tried to get underhooks and Hong has denied him.
Jorgos blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well Hong has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
