PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Dux (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Foreman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Foreman has chosen Impaled Nazarene - "Armageddon Death Squad" as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Frank Dux has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Frank Dux!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, George Foreman!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dux tries to sprawl but Foreman drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Foreman frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Foreman controlling his opponent.
Foreman landing punches.
Foreman controlling the pace for now.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Foreman's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. George Foreman wasn't active enough on the ground.
Dux dives in and grabs Foreman's left leg, looking for a takedown. Foreman pushes down on Dux's head and hops out.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dux is defended easily by Foreman.
Dux is breathing heavily.
Foreman slaps away a takedown attempt from Dux, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Dux. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Foreman closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Foreman lands in his opponent's guard.

Foreman stands up from Dux's guard - Foreman perhaps looking for a knockout.

Foreman gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Foreman gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Foreman is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Let's hope that Foreman has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. George Foreman wasn't active enough on the ground.
Foreman misses with a few strikes there.
Dux gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Foreman counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Foreman looks to land a body kick but Dux moved away.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Foreman.

Foreman stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Foreman darts in and clinches Dux up against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Foreman lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Dux sprawling to the canvas. Foreman follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Dux hang on?


Dux is rocked!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Foreman in particular looking to stall.

Foreman decides to return to a standing position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

George Foreman dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Foreman throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Dux was covering up waiting for the punch and Foreman finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Foreman stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Sloppy strikes from Foreman. Those never looked like landing.

Dux gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Foreman stands up over Dux, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Foreman stays in close to Dux's body and controls the position.

Foreman gets to his feet. Dux looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dux walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Foreman gets a double leg takedown into Dux's guard.
Foreman is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Foreman decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Foreman gets to his feet - Dux follows without any prompting.
Frank Dux is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Foreman attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Dux tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Foreman has Dux pressed against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Foreman manages to break the clinch.
Dux looks to clinch
enabling Foreman to counter with a crisp jab.

Foreman clinches up with Dux and pushes him back against the cage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Dux.
Foreman lands a hook that snaps the head of Dux backwards.

Foreman escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Dux fails with a takedown attempt.
Foreman lands a nice shot to the body.

Foreman moves into the clinch.

Foreman turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Foreman is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Dux will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Dux is looking for a sweep.

Foreman has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Foreman gets a clinch.

Foreman jumps into guard, dragging Dux to the mat.

Foreman scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Foreman throws a combination. Dux tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
George Foreman seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Dux gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Foreman.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A right-left combo lands from Foreman.
Oh Dux is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Foreman looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Dux seems to have got his legs back now.

Foreman looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Dux is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Foreman passes to full mount!
Dux tries to hold on but Foreman postures up.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

George Foreman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Frank Dux has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Foreman looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Foreman stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Foreman shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dux's guard.

George Foreman comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Foreman has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
