Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kyrylo Davydenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Masayuki Takahara!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davydenko has his takedown stuffed

and Takahara counters by moving into the clinch.

Takahara works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Takahara throws a strike but Davydenko rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Takahara has his foot on Davydenko's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Davydenko works his way back into a safe position though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Kyrylo Davydenko.

Takahara has gone for a leg lock! Davydenko slips out almost immediately though and dives into Takahara's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Takahara can do anything to dispel that myth.
Takahara can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Davydenko controls the pace.
Takahara is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Davydenko looks for a takedown but Takahara sprawls well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Davydenko is trying to force a seperation but Takahara has the dominant position.
Davydenko is looking to break free of the clinch but Takahara has double underhooks.

Takahara escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Davydenko tries to close the distance and clinch up but Takahara swats him away and circles back towards the center.
No luck for Davydenko with that takedown attempt.

Takahara has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Davydenko can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Davydenko has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Davydenko will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A left and a right from Takahara both land. Nice combination.
Davydenko will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Kyrylo Davydenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Davydenko tries to score a power double leg takedown but Takahara sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Davydenko somewhat.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Takahara connects with a nice short shot to Davydenko's temple.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Takahara is looking for a kimura but Davydenko is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Takahara to get the leverage.
Takahara takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Takahara is keen to just control but Davydenko is a slippery customer.
Takahara lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Takahara is trying to control the action in half guard but Davydenko is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Masayuki Takahara showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well Takahara has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
