Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Amir Khan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bj Penn!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khan misses with a few strikes there.
Penn on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Khan takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Some wild striking there from Khan.
Khan misses with a few strikes there.
Khan misses with a looping right.
Penn shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Khan as he avoids it easily.
Khan throws a series of punches but Penn avoids them all with ease.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Penn prevents Khan from breaking the clinch.

Penn pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Khan misses with a straight left.
Khan throws a series of punches but Penn avoids them all with ease.
Khan fails to land with a series of punches.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Khan gets tackled into the cage by Penn. Penn maintains the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A frustrated look appears on Khan's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Penn struggles to land a body shot inside as Khan controls his hands.

Penn drags the fight down to the ground.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Penn thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Penn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Penn manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Penn looking to control and managing it successfully.
Khan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Penn on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
It looks like Penn might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
BOOM! Penn connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Penn controlling the position easily from mount.
Khan tries to buck Penn off but Penn takes his back!
Penn really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Khan.

Penn has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Khan is in real trouble here. Penn gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Khan is tapping out! Penn wins by rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Bj Penn!
