The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Woods doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Jones counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Woods with a lazy takedown attempt
and Jones counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Jones goes for a high kick. It partially lands.


It looks like Jack Woods has been cut.
Jones lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Tom Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Woods doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Jones cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Woods. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jones misses with a two punch combination.
Jones moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Woods gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Jones counters with a nice body shot.
Woods is breathing heavily.
A jab lands there for Jones.
Tom Jones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Woods showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Jones.
Woods closes the distance but Jones moves to the side
and Jones makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Jones rushes Woods and presses him up against the cage.
Jones lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Jones creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Jones breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jones shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Woods eats them both and turns towards Jones to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Jones lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Woods circles away quickly and effectively.
Woods gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Left hook, right uppercut from Jones.
Jones jabs Woods right on the nose. Woods blinks but takes it well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jones lands a slapping body shot.
A shot to the liver by Jones. Beautiful body shot.
Woods with a poor takedown
and Jones counters with a left to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Woods with a lazy takedown attempt
enabling Jones to counter with a crisp jab.
Woods doesn't manage to clinch there - Jones circles away.
Jones connects with a crisp jab.
Jones throws a right and a left that Woods avoids nicely.

Jones moves into the clinch.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Jones scores with an uppercut up the middle.
A right hand to the body from Jones.
Jones misses with a punch to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tom Jones dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jack Woods's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Jones forces Woods back against the cage and clinches.
The referee is keeping an eye on Jones - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Jones works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Jones blocks the elbow strike.

Jones's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Tom Jones seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Woods doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Jones counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Good shot there by Jones.
Woods on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Woods shoots and misses
and Jones counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Jones connects with a single shot there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jones scores with a crisp jab that stopped Woods in his tracks.
The fighters circle momentarily. Jones darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.


Woods is rocked!

Jones pushes Woods up against the cage in a clinch.
Oh Woods is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Jones pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Woods. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jones throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Woods's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Jones dives in looking to finish as Woods flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Jones's strikes! Jones is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Woods's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Woods was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tom Jones! Tom Jones retains his featherweight title!
