Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Robert Eberson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rick Slick! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Eberson blocks a low kick nicely. A solid leg kick lands there for Slick.
Slick throws a big shot that misses. Eberson checks the leg kick nicely there.
Eberson thows a body shot but no joy. Slick throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Eberson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Slick.
Slick throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Slick swings away with a leg kick that misses. Slick is looking to chop away at Eberson's legs. Slick shoots in for a takedown and gets it. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Eberson tries to roll over but Slick keeps him under control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Eberson is holding on to half guard well. Eberson is trying to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Eberson will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Slick connects with a body shot. A looping hook to the body misses from Eberson. Slick does a little dance to reset his feet. Eberson moves out of range as Slick strikes. Slick shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Eberson pinned against the cage. Eberson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Slick misses with a body shot.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Eberson checks the leg kick nicely there.
Slick connects with a crisp jab. Eberson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Slick. Slick throws a leg kick but Eberson checks it. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Eberson checks a leg kick. Slick throws out a loose jab but Eberson uses good head movement to avoid it. Slick misses with a right hand and Eberson counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Eberson swats away the attempt to clinch by Slick. Eberson closes the distance and clinches up with Slick, looking for a takedown. Eberson pushes Slick against the cage but Slick circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Eberson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Slick. Slick throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Eberson tries to land a front kick but Slick steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. A head kick misses from Eberson. Slick misses with a body shot.
Slick tried to score with a low kick but Eberson checks it. Eberson looks to land a left hand but Slick moved out of range nicely. Eberson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Slick.
Slick throws an overhand right that lands on Eberson's shoulder, as Eberson tries to avoid the shot. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rick Slick dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Slick is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Eberson's half guard. Slick wants to lay and pray for a moment but Eberson keeps working. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Rick Slick wasn't active enough on the ground. Slick misses with a hook. Slick tests Eberson's chin there with a solid looking shot. Eberson staying out of range there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Slick takes a swing at Eberson's ribcage but misses. Eberson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Eberson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! BOOM! Eberson connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Eberson throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

The referee warns Slick that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Slick can do anything to dispel that myth. Eberson throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Slick is looking to get to half guard. Eberson is in the full mount, landing strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Eberson throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Slick because Eberson loaded up on that one. Slick really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Eberson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Eberson looking for a guillotine from mount but Slick is having none of it. Eberson in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Eberson misses with a head shot. Eberson pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Eberson unloading with bombs!
Slick is rocked! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Slick can't escape the position.
Eberson putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Slick is still in real trouble! Can Eberson finish him?
That's three minutes gone in the round. Eberson lands a big elbow - Slick is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Slick is forced to tap out!
