The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nash avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kilgore shoots in and bounces Nash off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Kilgore avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Kilgore stands up from Nash's guard - Kilgore perhaps looking for a knockout. Nash wants to clinch and Kilgore counters with a nice double leg into guard. Nash is trying to keep Kilgore in close.
Kilgore is looking to work some ground and pound but Nash has wrist control. Kilgore wants to stand but Nash is controlling his posture from full guard. Nash tries to land a sweep but no joy. Nash is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kilgore scoring with some ground and pound. Kilgore wants to control from the top but Nash keeps moving.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Nash has his takedown stuffed and Kilgore counters with a nice double leg into guard. Kilgore wants to control from the top but Nash keeps moving. Nash keeping full guard, as Kilgore tries to pass. Kilgore trying to control the position from guard on top but Nash is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kilgore postures up.
Nash has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kilgore can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nash throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Nash looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Nash is breathing heavily. Kilgore cracks Nash with a solid left hand. Kilgore wants to control from the top but Nash keeps moving. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Kilgore wanted to stand there but Nash had control of the position. Kilgore really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nash. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Nash wants to sweep here but Kilgore controlling him for the moment. Kilgore avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Kilgore wants to stand but Nash has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Kilgore must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nash wants to sweep here but Kilgore controlling him for the moment. Nash is looking to stand up but Kilgore isn't so interested in that idea.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Kilgore drives through with a takedown into guard. Nash is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Kilgore has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Nash to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Kilgore is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Nash pulls down on the head and he's put Kilgore to sleep! This one is all over!
