The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phoenix circles away from the clinch attempt.
Phoenix forces Kush back against the cage and clinches.
Kush drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Kush stalling in the clinch.
Phoenix breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Phoenix finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Paul Phoenix seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kush uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Phoenix .
Kush closes the distance but Phoenix moves to the side
and Phoenix counters with a nice uppercut.
Phoenix swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Kush.

Kush fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Kush tries for a takedown but Phoenix sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Phoenix throws a hook to the side of Kush's head but Kush sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Phoenix tries to close the distance and clinch but Kush swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Phoenix swats away the attempt to clinch by Kush.

Kush takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Nice takedown defense from Phoenix . No joy for Kush on that attempt.

and Phoenix counters by moving into the clinch.
Kush tightens his grip and picks Phoenix up, before dumping him to the ground. Phoenix manages to land in guard.

and Kush decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Phoenix 's guard.
Kush is looking to stand up but Phoenix won't let him.
Phoenix has Kush pulled in close to control his posture.
Kush stops Phoenix from standing up.
Kush loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Kush sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Phoenix 's guard.
Kush is breathing heavily.
Phoenix regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Kush.
Kush trying to control the position from guard on top but Phoenix is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Phoenix can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kush controls the pace.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Kush is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Phoenix is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Phoenix has escaped and now he's on top!
Kush wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Phoenix is now in half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
You can see the frustration on Kush's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Phoenix stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Kush throws a one two combo.
Phoenix scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Phoenix lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Kush shoots for a double leg takedown but Phoenix sprawls well. He's pushed Kush's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Paul Phoenix is winning the standup battle so far.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Phoenix is looking to break free of the clinch but Kush has double underhooks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Paul Phoenix will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Kush closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Phoenix is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Kush has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kush has a hand on Phoenix 's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Phoenix takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Kush is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Phoenix manages to capitalize on a mistake by Kush to take his back!
I really don't envy Kush right now.

Phoenix is not going to allow Kush to sit and survive in this position.

Phoenix keeps control of the position easily here as Kush tries to buck him off.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Phoenix has the hooks in. Kush is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
