Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Joey West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cung Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joey West!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cung Lee!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

West is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Lee's half guard.
West could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Lee looks like he's trying to stand up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
West wants to free his trapped foot but Lee is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
West thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Lee is refusing to be controlled, as West sits in half guard.
Lee is trying to stand.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Lee is defending against the submission attempts here by West.
West is controlling the pace.
West trying to advance position but Lee counters by regaining guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
West has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Lee is proving hard to escape from.

Lee manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Lee wants to clinch.
That kick from Lee tenderised West's leg. West is trying to keep his angry face on.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lee tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but West paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Lee tries to clinch there but West circles away.

West rushes Lee and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Lee ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Lee no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Lee has his feet on West's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Lee fails with the takedown.

Lee fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with West, pushing him back against the cage.
West is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Lee is keeping busy.
Lee tries for a takedown but West manages to get underhooks.

Lee ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Lee no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
West trying to control but Lee is working from the bottom.
West stops Lee from standing up.
Lee looks gassed!
West forces his way into half guard.
West throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
West keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
West tries to pass the half guard into mount. Lee knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Joey West will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


West looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lee is fending him off so far but West persists. Nope, Lee circles away and we're back to standing.
West shoots for a takedown but Lee saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
West shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Lee defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joey West. That's going to take a lot out of him.
West blocks a head kick by Lee.
West will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
West leaves Lee with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

West gets tackled into the cage by Lee. Lee maintains the clinch.

Lee escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lee throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Lee has West up against the cage in a clinch.
West is looking to break free of the clinch but Lee has double underhooks.
Lee fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Lee tries for a takedown but West manages to get underhooks.
West tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
West goes for a takedown in the clinch but Lee prevents it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lee's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Lee dodges the punch combination from West.
Lee throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around West's waist but West gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lee off to one side.

West misses with a takedown attempt

and Lee holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
West tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Lee goes for a takedown attempt but West pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Lee misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
West throws a left and a right that both miss

and Lee moves into the clinch.

Lee escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Lee is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
West shoots in for a takedown but Lee shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Joey West is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Lee gets in close and instigates a clinch.
West trying to stall but Lee improves his position.

Lee pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Lee closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Lee's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Lee.
Lee fails with an attempt to clinch.
Lee is looking to clinch but West is avoiding it.
West shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lee as he jumps to the side.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lee tries to clinch but West moves out of range.
Lee throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around West's waist but West gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lee off to one side.
Lee closes the distance and clinches up with West, looking for a takedown. Lee pushes West against the cage but West circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Lee enables West to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Lee manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Lee uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
West tries to clinch but Lee moves out of range.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
West looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Lee instigates a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cung Lee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


West misses with a few strikes there.
West looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lee is fending him off so far but West persists. Nope, Lee circles away and we're back to standing.
West throws a head kick but Lee moves out of range.
Lee tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but West swivels and escapes.

West tries to keep at a distance but Lee has taken the fight into the clinch.

Lee pulls West into guard.

Lee uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Lee keeps the fight on the outside.
Lee shoots in for a double leg but West sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Lee stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lee wants it to stay on the feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lee defends well against a solid takedown attempt from West.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joey West. That's going to take a lot out of him.
West fails to land the takedown.

West tries to keep at a distance but Lee has taken the fight into the clinch.
Lee changes levels and goes for a takedown here. West fights it off and pushes away nicely.
West shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Lee darts in and clinches West up against the cage.

West wants to stand and escape but instead Lee has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

West wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Lee is now in half guard.
West keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Lee works his way into side control.

Lee stands up and beckons West to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lee shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
West tries for a takedown but Lee sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Lee can't get the takedown.
West tries to pull guard but Lee won't allow it.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Lee takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
West stops a takedown attempt from Lee.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Lee is looking for a takedown up against the cage. West gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Lee jumps guard but West stands there with Lee around his waist. Lee gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
West trying to land knees to the body.

Lee drops to a knee looking for a takedown but West gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Lee stalling the fight.
West jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Lee walks away with a smile on his face. West gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Lee shoots for a double leg takedown but West sprawls well. He's pushed Lee's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Lee swats away the attempt to clinch by West.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
West has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Lee is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Cung Lee comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lee has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
