The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jefferson avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Jefferson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Jefferson takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Jefferson is looking to clinch. Jefferson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Jefferson tries to close the distance and clinch but Bookem swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Bookem lands a jab-cross combination. Jefferson doesn't manage to clinch there - Bookem circles away.
Jefferson shoots in for a takedown but Bookem shows good takedown defense. Jefferson fails with an attempt to clinch.

Jefferson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bookem swivels though and keeps the full guard. Bookem trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Jefferson is working Bookem over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Jefferson looking to pass the guard. Jefferson is rocked! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Bookem scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Jefferson is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Bookem can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
