PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pablo Sir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Habbibi Uleh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sir comes to the cage accompanied by Kickstart. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pablo Sir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Habbibi Uleh!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Hugh Johnson and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sir throws a right and a left that both miss.
Pablo Sir seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sir has a takedown stuffed.
Sir swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Uleh counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Sir's guard now.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Sir looking to hit a scissor sweep but Uleh is one step ahead there.

Sir pushes Uleh off and gets back to his feet.

Uleh rushes Sir and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Uleh goes for a takedown in the clinch but Sir prevents it.
Sir wants to break the clinch but can't.

Uleh has Sir pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Uleh pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Sir tumbling to the mat - Uleh dives into Sir's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Uleh trying to control the position from guard on top but Sir is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sir lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Uleh!
Sir throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Sir can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Uleh is looking to escape.

Sir has hold of Uleh's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Uleh manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sir punching from mount but Uleh doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Sir misses with some ground and pound and Uleh recovers position to half guard.

Sir is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Sir throwing shots but Uleh is blocking nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Uleh makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
A combination from Sir does no damage.
Sir fails to land the takedown.

Uleh clinches.
Uleh wants a takedown but no success here.

Uleh gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Sir is trying to maintain the position but Uleh is very close to passing his half guard.
Uleh really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sir. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Uleh connects with a nice short shot to Sir's temple.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Uleh not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Sir is trying to maintain the position but Uleh is very close to passing his half guard.
Sir is staying active underneath Uleh, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sir regains full guard. Nicely done.
Sir controls Uleh momentarily but Uleh frees himself.
Uleh preventing the sweep.

Uleh got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sir has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Uleh has managed to get both his arms back between Sir's legs - danger averted.
Sir keeping moving, preventing Uleh from controlling successfully.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Uleh landing some decent shots from guard.
Uleh scoring with some ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Habbibi Uleh will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Uleh slips a jab and a cross from Sir.
Uleh showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Sir.
Uleh bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Sir fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Uleh takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Uleh moves away from the strike by Sir.
A jab from Sir does it's job there.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sir.
Uleh avoids a punch combination nicely.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Uleh.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A jab from Sir misses.
Sir misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Uleh walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Sir lands with a cross.
Sir throws a hook but Uleh avoids it easily.
Sir throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Uleh's waist but Uleh gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sir off to one side.
Sir's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Sir duly obliges.
Sir fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Sir shoots in for a double leg but Uleh sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pablo Sir. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Sir shoots in and gets a takedown into Uleh's guard.
Sir will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Uleh wants to stand and escape but Sir is having none of it.
Habbibi Uleh has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Sir drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Uleh dives on top into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Uleh content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Uleh stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Sir has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Uleh manages to get his head free but now Sir has transitioned to an armbar! Uleh grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Sir! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Pablo Sir!
