Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Aussie Pride (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rico Suarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rico Suarez has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Aussie Pride's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Aussie Pride!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rico Suarez!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Bruno Lombardi and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Pride or perhaps it was just good defense by Suarez which made him look bad.

Suarez closes the distance and clinches.
Pride goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Suarez is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Pride is trying to break the clinch but Suarez has him pressed against the cage.

Suarez pulls guard effortlessly.
Pride really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Pride trying to control but Suarez is working from the bottom.
Suarez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Pride loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Suarez is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Pride throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Suarez works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Suarez keeping moving, preventing Pride from controlling successfully.
Suarez has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Pride would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Pride is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Pride forces his way into half guard.
Suarez is looking to escape.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Pride controlling the action here.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pride connects with a nice short shot to Suarez's temple.
Suarez won't allow Pride to pass to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Suarez tries to kick Pride off but Pride keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Pride gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Suarez closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Pride to the mat! Pride manages to get full guard.
Suarez trying to control the position from guard on top but Pride is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rico Suarez dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Pride throws a sloppy head kick and Suarez moves out of range easily.
Pride misses with a takedown attempt

and Suarez counters with a single leg into guard. Pride didn't expect that.

Pride keeping moving, preventing Suarez from controlling successfully.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Suarez slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Pride not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Suarez seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Pride will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Pride is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Suarez controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Suarez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Despite being in the dominant position, Rico Suarez just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Pride gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Pride being controlled here, momentarily.

Let's hope that Suarez has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Suarez wants to get up but he can't break Pride's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Pride is looking for a triangle but Suarez pushes his legs off easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rico Suarez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

and Suarez counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pride won't be happy with that.
Pride is looking for a sweep.
Pride wants to control but Suarez postures up.
Pride is trying to escape the position but Suarez is controlling the position.

Suarez stands up.
Pride fails with the takedown

Suarez content to control rather than advance.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Suarez's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Despite being in the dominant position, Rico Suarez just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Suarez gets the takedown into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Rico Suarez has got the better of the ground game so far.
Suarez moves into full mount!

Suarez takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Suarez landing strikes from the mount and Pride is in trouble!
Aussie Pride has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Suarez wants to control the pace but Pride is squirming around nicely.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rico Suarez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Suarez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
