PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Charlie Bronson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Charlie Bronson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 12 - 1, fighting out of New York, James Miller!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bronson lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Miller fails to land the takedown.
Some wild striking there from Bronson.

Miller rushes Bronson and presses him up against the cage.
Bronson is pressed up against the cage. Miller has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Bronson down to the mat. Bronson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Bronson gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Miller jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bronson walks away with a smile on his face. Miller gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Charlie Bronson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Miller.
Miller throws a series of punches but Bronson avoids them all with ease.
Miller throws a low kick but Bronson moves out of range easily.
Miller misses with a series of wild punches.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Miller.
Bronson scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Miller doesn't seem bothered though.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Miller ducks straight into an uppercut from Bronson and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Miller manages to regain guard straight away.

Bronson pushes down on Miller's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Miller is still in real trouble! Can Bronson finish him?

Miller is looking to improve his position.
Miller seems to have recovered his senses.
Bronson thows a huge punch but Miller dodges it nicely.
Bronson is trying to control. Miller wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Miller moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Bronson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Bronson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Bronson is looking to take a break and control but Miller is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Bronson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Miller, who protects the arm well.
Bronson has knee on belly momentarily but Miller bucks him off and regains half guard.
Bronson tries to pass to full mount but Miller defends it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Miller tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bronson swivels and escapes.

Bronson forces Miller back against the cage and clinches.
Miller blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Bronson breaks from the clinch.

Bronson closes the distance and clinches.
Bronson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Miller avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Bronson tries to pull guard but Miller won't allow it.
Miller pushes Bronson back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Bronson creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Miller digs a right hand underneath Bronson's ribcage. Bronson let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Miller gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Miller tries to stand but Bronson is controlling from the bottom.
Miller in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Miller is looking to work some ground and pound but Bronson has wrist control.
Miller trying to control the position from guard on top but Bronson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bronson has a closed guard, preventing Miller from standing up.

Bronson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Miller stands up from Bronson's guard - Miller perhaps looking for a knockout.
Miller shoots in for a takedown but Bronson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Bronson lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Bronson looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Miller jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bronson walks away with a smile on his face. Miller gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Miller throws a nice looking combination but Bronson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bronson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Miller, pushing him back against the cage.
Bronson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Miller is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Bronson can't fight it off and eventually Miller manages to take the fight to the floor. Bronson looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bronson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Miller gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Miller lands with a punch from half guard.
Miller wants to take a breather but Bronson is having none of it.
Miller seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Bronson tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Miller is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Bronson!

Bronson is rocked!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Miller loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Bronson scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Miller land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Miller stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Miller!
