Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kane Lighten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and EJ Whitten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). EJ Whitten is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kane Lighten! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, EJ Whitten! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Chad Campbell and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lighten clinches with his opponent.
Whitten tightens his grip and picks Lighten up, before dumping him to the ground. Lighten manages to land in guard. Lighten keeping moving, preventing Whitten from controlling successfully. Lighten controlling Whitten's posture. Whitten drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Lighten dives on top into guard. Whitten working a defensive guard here.
Lighten wants to control from the top but Whitten keeps moving. Whitten looking for a guillotine here but Lighten defends easily.
Whitten has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Lighten off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
That's one minute gone in the round. Whitten looks to score with a jab to the body but Lighten is just out of range. Whitten feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Lighten looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Whitten drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Lighten manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Whitten has Lighten in his guard. Whitten looks gassed! Whitten keeping moving, preventing Lighten from controlling successfully. Lighten content to stall in guard here. Lighten decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Whitten takes a shot right to the bread basket. Lighten closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Lighten working the ground and pound. Lighten works to advance to full mount. Whitten defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Whitten is desperately trying to improve his position but Lighten has a good base and remains in mount. Lighten sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Whitten looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Whitten wants to control his opponent's hands but Lighten gets his hands free. Whitten tries to break free.
Whitten trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kane Lighten dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Whitten doesn't succeed with the takedown and Lighten counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Lighten. Lighten trying to control but Whitten is working from the bottom. Whitten has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lighten can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Whitten not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Lighten preventing the sweep. Lighten postures up.
Lighten trying to control the position from guard on top but Whitten is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Whitten is trying to keep Lighten in close.
Lighten makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Lighten scores with a takedown into Whitten's guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lighten preventing the sweep. Lighten wants to control from the top but Whitten keeps moving. Whitten throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Whitten is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Lighten decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Whitten, up you get! Lighten has managed to clinch.

Whitten scores with a takedown into Lighten's guard. Whitten must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Whitten looking to pass the guard. Whitten passes Lighten's left leg - he's now in half guard. Lighten is defending against the submission attempts here by Whitten.
Kane Lighten overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Whitten escapes and gets back to his feet. Whitten shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Whitten dominating with strikes here. A nice elbow there by Whitten. Lighten tries to hold on but Whitten pushes him away. Whitten lands a heavy elbow. Whitten working for a submission but Lighten is keeping him at bay. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Lighten keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Lighten sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Kane Lighten will probably get the nod. That's time! Lighten's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Lighten scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Lighten trying to control from half guard but Whitten is working away. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Lighten in particular looking to stall. Lighten takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Whitten is not content to let Lighten control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Whitten takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Lighten tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Whitten. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Lighten in particular looking to stall.
That's one minute gone in the round. Whitten actively working from the bottom here. Lighten looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Lighten wants to pass the guard but Whitten is defending well.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Lighten feints and as Whitten raises his hands in defense, Lighten changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Lighten stands and throws Whitten's legs to the side, diving into side control. Whitten manages to get back to half guard. Whitten is looking for a sweep. Lighten is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Whitten trying to control here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Whitten is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Whitten is not content to let Lighten control the position. Whitten makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Whitten pushes Lighten up against the cage in a clinch. Lighten is stalling here.
Lighten is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Whitten pulls him back up using the underhooks. Whitten drops down looking for an ankle pick but Lighten pulls his leg out and moves away.
Whitten avoids the head kick by Lighten.
Lighten drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Lighten passes Whitten's left leg - he's now in half guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
And that's the end of the fight! Kane Lighten showed his dominance in that final round. Well Lighten has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
