PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Luke Lii (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Reggie Anders (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lii comes to the cage accompanied by Legend of the Ocean . Anders is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Radiohead - "Myxomatosis". Reggie Anders has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Luke Lii's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Luke Lii!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Reggie Anders!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lii tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Lii throws a sloppy head kick and Anders moves out of range easily.
Lii throws a right and a left that both miss.
Lii has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Anders.
Lii looks to land a body kick but Anders moved away.
Anders shoots in looking for a takedown but Lii manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Anders's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Lii gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Lii pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Anders drives through with a takedown into guard.
Anders trying to stand up but can't free himself from Lii's guard.
Anders prevents Lii from getting back to his feet.

Lii avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Anders bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lii's guard.
Lii is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Anders wants to control from the top but Lii keeps moving.

Anders postures up in Lii's guard and throws a big left but Lii blocks it.
Lii is breathing heavily.
Anders lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Anders trying to control the position from guard on top but Lii is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lii has momentary wrist control but Anders slips an elbow through the middle.
Lii wants to stand up but Anders is controlling him.
Anders with a flurry of punches that miss.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Anders sitting in guard here, content to control.
Anders trying to control but Lii is working from the bottom.
Anders throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Anders postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Lii on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Lii tries to get out of the position.
Lii utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Reggie Anders dominated that round.
That's time! Lii's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Anders fails with a takedown attempt.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Anders.
Anders walks into a left hand.
Lii waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Anders.
Anders has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Lii.
Anders blocks a head kick by Lii.
Anders avoids the head kick by Lii.

Anders moves into the clinch.
Lii is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Anders is defending well for now.
Anders tries to score a body lock takedown but Lii shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Luke Lii has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Reggie Anders.
Anders tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Lii just stands there and leans against the cage.
Lii is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Anders is defending well for now.

Lii breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Anders closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Anders lands in his opponent's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Anders missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Anders has gone for a leg lock! Lii slips out almost immediately though and dives into Anders's guard.

Anders had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Lii defends it easily.

Lii won't allow Anders to get back to his feet.

Anders is looking for a triangle but Lii pushes his legs off easily.
Anders is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Anders controls Lii momentarily but Lii frees himself.
Reggie Anders has got the better of the ground game so far.
Anders wants to sweep but no luck.

Anders has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lii can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Anders wants to get back to his feet but Lii passes into half guard.

Reggie Anders showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Lii's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Lii connects with a good right hand that stumbles Anders. Anders circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Anders.
Anders closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lii circles away.
Luke Lii seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Anders rushes Lii and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Lii escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Anders takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Anders fails with a takedown attempt.
Luke Lii has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Reggie Anders.
Lii slaps away a takedown attempt from Anders, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Lii tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Anders takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Lii misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

and Lii counters with a head kick.

Lii darts in and clinches Anders up against the cage.
Lii crunches a lovely knee into Anders's ribcage.

Lii escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Lii manages to break the clinch.
Lii scores with a nice body kick.
Lii tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Lii displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Anders.
Lii lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Anders tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Lii is able to avoid easily.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Lii.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lii tries to close the distance and clinch but Anders swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Lii goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Lii tries a head kick but it misses.
Anders fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lii avoids it really well and circles away.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lii throws a half hearted mid kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - Lii looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
No joy there for Anders, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Anders fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Anders blocks a head kick by Lii.

Lii clinches with his opponent.

Lii manages to break the clinch.
Reggie Anders is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Anders avoids a kick to the body.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Anders.
Lii scores with a jab to the body.
Anders shoots in for a double leg but Lii sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Lii throws a head kick that half lands.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Lii - that will leave a mark!
Anders steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Lii.
Lii keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Anders shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lii sprawls well. Lii wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Anders gets slowly back to his feet.
Lii throws a head kick but Anders moves out of range.

Lii explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Lii tries a head kick but it misses.

Anders closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Luke Lii has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Lii gets underhooks to prevent Anders's takedown attempt.
Reggie Anders is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Anders is trying to drag Lii to the mat but Lii just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Lii lands a knee to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Anders managing to block the knees to the body from Lii.
Anders tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Lii avoids it.
Lii is pressed up against the cage. Anders has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Lii down to the mat. Lii avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

And that's the end of the fight!
Luke Lii showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Anders has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
