Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Frank Sherman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penn is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Til I Collapse. DJ Penn has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Frank Sherman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, DJ Penn! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Taro Takaoka and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Penn uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sherman.
Penn leaves Sherman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Sherman takes a swing at Penn's ribcage but misses. Sherman misses with a combination
and Penn counters with a stiff right hand. Sherman throws an off balance right hand
and Penn counters with a nice uppercut. A punch combination from Sherman misses. Sherman avoids the body shot from Penn.
Sherman with a poor takedown and Penn counters with a lovely straight right hand! Frank Sherman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Penn bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Sherman is trying hard to land a takedown here. Penn sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Sherman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sherman throws a wild body kick that Penn sees coming a mile off. Sherman fails to land with a series of punches.
Sherman shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Sherman takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Sherman misses with a looping left. Penn misses with a leg kick. Sherman shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Sherman is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Penn! Penn is working to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Penn is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sherman looking to finish with strikes here!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Penn is desperately trying to improve his position but Sherman has a good base and remains in mount.

Sherman is standing up, even though he is in mount. Sherman throws a body punch but Penn moves out of range. Penn with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Sherman to score with a decent uppercut.

DJ Penn is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sherman fails with the takedown and Sherman takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Sherman counters with a lovely shot to the body. Sherman fails with the takedown and Penn counters with a nice body shot.

Penn's corner calls for a 1-2. Penn obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Penn digs a good hook to Sherman's body.

Penn is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Sherman. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sherman gets the takedown into side control. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Penn is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Penn is pressing down on Sherman's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Sherman looking to sit in guard and control but Penn gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Penn trying to control the position from guard on top but Sherman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Penn postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sherman is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Penn, into his guard. Penn is trying to control the position but Sherman postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Penn has an active guard here but Sherman has managed to pass into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Penn is refusing to be controlled, as Sherman sits in half guard. Penn is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Sherman is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Penn is looking to improve his position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Penn slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but DJ Penn will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's time! Sherman's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Penn moves out of range of the body kick. Penn tests Sherman's chin there with a solid looking shot. Sherman throws a combination that misses and Penn counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Sherman keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Sherman changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. A chopping leg kick lands by Penn. Sherman throws a right hand that Penn ducks under and follows up with a left that Penn also avoids with ease. Sherman misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Sherman gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Penn counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Sherman thinking. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. A combination from Sherman does no damage. Penn misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Sherman.

Nice footwork from Sherman.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Sherman goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Sherman throws a hook but Penn avoids it easily. Sherman throws a big shot that misses. Penn slips under a jab. Penn dips to his left and cracks Sherman with an uppercut! Penn lands an overhand right. Frank Sherman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Sherman fails to land with a series of punches.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sherman throws the left hand but Penn avoids the punch easily. Excellent takedown into side control there by Sherman.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Frank Sherman. Well Sherman has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
