Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rol Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fabio Del Mar!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Del Mar throws a sloppy head kick and Gracie moves out of range easily.
Gracie shoots in looking for a takedown but Del Mar manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gracie's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Del Mar lands a glancing blow to the side of Gracie's head.
It looks like Rol Gracie has been cut.
A head kick misses from Del Mar.
Del Mar misses with a head kick.
Gracie tries to move into range but Del Mar moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Del Mar lands a big head kick that sends Gracie tumbling to the mat! Del Mar takes a step backwards and waves Gracie back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Gracie is rocked!
Gracie blocks a head kick by Del Mar.
Oh Gracie is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Del Mar throws a head kick but Gracie moves out of range.
A head kick by Del Mar - that's a beauty! Gracie is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Del Mar can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Fabio Del Mar!
In his post fight interview, Fabio Del Mar started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
