Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joe Lauzon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gray Maynard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maynard has chosen Kickstart as his entrance music. Joe Lauzon has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joe Lauzon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gray Maynard! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lauzon fails with a takedown attempt. Lauzon will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Lauzon pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Maynard closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Lauzon quickly recovers to half guard. Lauzon is looking for a sweep. Maynard is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Maynard controlling the action here. Lauzon looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Maynard is thwarting Lauzon's attempts to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maynard slows the pace down in half guard. Maynard really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lauzon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Maynard prevents Lauzon from improving his position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Maynard prevents Lauzon from standing back up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Gray Maynard wasn't active enough on the ground. Maynard fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lauzon avoids it really well and circles away. Maynard forces Lauzon back against the cage and clinches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Maynard is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Lauzon pulls him back up using the underhooks. Lauzon goes for a takedown in the clinch but Maynard prevents it.

Maynard wants the takedown. Lauzon is fighting it off but Maynard persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Lauzon's guard against the cage. Lauzon gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Maynard counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Maynard throwing shots but Lauzon is blocking nicely. Lauzon is trying to stand.

Maynard seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lauzon does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Maynard controlling the action here. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Lauzon. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Maynard working the ground and pound effectively.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Lauzon tries to lock up and control but Maynard gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Maynard looks to score with a jab to the body but Lauzon is just out of range. Lauzon with a lazy takedown attempt and Maynard counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Maynard. No, Maynard has managed to get both his arms back between Lauzon's legs - danger averted. Maynard is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Lauzon keeping moving, preventing Maynard from controlling successfully. Lauzon is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Maynard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lauzon swivels though and keeps the full guard. Maynard trying to control but Lauzon is working from the bottom. Maynard might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Lauzon kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Maynard won't allow Lauzon to get back to his feet. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Maynard shoots in for a double leg but Lauzon sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Lauzon gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Lauzon takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Maynard!
Lauzon is rocked! Lauzon doesn't succeed with the takedown and Maynard counters with a deadly accurate combination that rocks Lauzon badly! He tries to strike back but Maynard puts an end to that with another precision combo that knocks Lauzon out cold! Oh man, Lauzon will never hear the end of this one!
