Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dominick Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luis Fierro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dominick Cruz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luis Fierro! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Daniel Franklin and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fierro has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Cruz. Cruz tries a head kick but it misses.
Fierro takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Cruz gets caught napping as Fierro dives in and scores a takedown. Cruz manages to retain guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Fierro trying to control the position from guard on top but Cruz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cruz uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Cruz lands a glancing blow to the side of Fierro's head. Cruz takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Cruz throws a wild body kick that Fierro sees coming a mile off.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cruz avoids a punch combination nicely.
Fierro throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cruz. Cruz blocks a jab. Good leg kick by Cruz there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Fierro is trying hard to land a takedown here. Cruz sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Cruz. Cruz with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Cruz fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Fierro throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Fierro scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Fierro avoids a kick to the body.
A big right from Cruz misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cruz throws a head kick but Fierro moves out of range.
Cruz tries to bum rush Fierro with a series of wild strikes but Fierro uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Fierro throws a leg kick and Cruz makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Fierro checks a leg kick. Cruz slips under a jab. Dominick Cruz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Fierro throws a leg kick but Cruz moved away. Cruz pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Cruz lands a leg kick that knocks Fierro off balance momentarily. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Fierro looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. A combination from Cruz does no damage. Cruz scores with a body shot.
Cruz is looking to score with low kicks.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fierro moves out of range of the strikes. Cruz ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Fierro moves away. Fierro has closed the distance and engaged Cruz in a clinch.
Cruz has Fierro pushed against the cage. Fierro pulls guard effortlessly. Cruz is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Dominick Cruz. Cruz thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Fierro if he has to take too many more of those.
Cruz throws a head kick that misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Fierro crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Cruz - the referee stops the clock and Fierro gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Cruz. Fierro manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Cruz goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Fierro will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Dominick Cruz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luis Fierro. Cruz lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Fierro is rocked! Cruz misses with a two punch combination.
Fierro is still on wobbly legs! Can Cruz finish him? Cruz throws a leg kick which misses Fierro's front leg but catches the back leg as Fierro tries to avoid it. Fierro seems to have recovered his senses. Cruz scores with a head kick. Fierro tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Cruz is breathing heavily. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A big right from Fierro misses. Cruz lands a nice shot to the body.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Cruz lands with a kick to the ribs.
Cruz stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Cruz lands a brutal head kick. Fierro looks out on his feet and Cruz throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick and Punches). Dominick Cruz!
