Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Duncan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Horatio Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duncan kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Moonlit Masquerade. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Duncan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Horatio Sanchez! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Ian Loll and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Duncan fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Duncan forces Sanchez back against the cage and clinches. Duncan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Duncan moves into the clinch successfully.
Duncan misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Sanchez.
Duncan connects with a nasty looking knee right to Sanchez's face.
It looks like Horatio Sanchez has been cut. Duncan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Horatio Sanchez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Duncan tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sanchez swivels and escapes. Sanchez looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Sanchez looks to land a left hand but Duncan moved out of range nicely. Sanchez darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Duncan gets back to full guard.
Sanchez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanchez being controlled here momentarily. Sanchez with a flurry of punches that miss. Sanchez trying to control but Duncan is working from the bottom. Duncan working for a triangle but Sanchez defends it easily.

Duncan drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Duncan jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Duncan not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Duncan keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Sanchez's head. Sanchez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Duncan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Duncan content to stall in guard here. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Duncan tries to free his leg and advance position but Sanchez is retaining full guard. Duncan decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Sanchez, up you get! Duncan shoots in looking for a takedown. Sanchez tries to sprawl out of it but Duncan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sanchez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Duncan. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sanchez shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Duncan regains half guard. Duncan is holding on to half guard well. Duncan moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Sanchez pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Duncan is keeping the position for now. Sanchez looks gassed! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Duncan looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chris Duncan dominated that round. The cut man is working on Horatio Sanchez's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Duncan shoots in and drives through. Sanchez sprawls well. Duncan shoots for a double leg takedown but Sanchez sprawls well. He's pushed Duncan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Sanchez rushes Duncan and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Sanchez lands a knee to the body.
Duncan has Sanchez pressed against the cage, preventing Sanchez from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Sanchez has clasped his hands together around Duncan's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Duncan sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Duncan keeps control of the position for the meantime.
That's one minute gone in the round. Duncan's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Duncan flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Chris Duncan. Sanchez throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Duncan tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Sanchez is in Duncan's guard.

Duncan has Sanchez pulled in close to control his posture. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Duncan has a closed guard, preventing Sanchez from standing up. Sanchez is breathing heavily. Duncan is pulling down on Sanchez's head to control his posture.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Duncan working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Sanchez. Duncan had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sanchez defends it easily. Duncan pulls Sanchez in close to his closed guard and prevents Sanchez from doing any damage or advancing position. Sanchez wanted to stand there but Duncan had control of the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Duncan seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
We're going to have a standup here because Chris Duncan wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Duncan steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Sanchez. Sanchez moves into range and clinches up with Duncan. Duncan is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Sanchez gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Sanchez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Sanchez is in a horrible position here. Duncan smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Duncan lands a heavy elbow. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Duncan working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Duncan looking to secure an arm triangle but Sanchez defends it well.
