PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tran Ngoc (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Troy Slamen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ngoc's entrance music is Dirt Room-Blue October. A fine choice. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tran Ngoc!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Troy Slamen!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ngoc tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Slamen counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Slamen trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Slamen is in close to Ngoc's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Ngoc is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Slamen controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Slamen drops back looking for a leg! Ngoc is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ngoc manages to kick Slamen off! Slamen jumps back into Ngoc's guard.

Slamen scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Slamen loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Slamen working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Ngoc's head.
Ngoc preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Ngoc tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Slamen is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Slamen wants to control from the top but Ngoc keeps moving.
Slamen postures up in Ngoc's guard and throws a big left but Ngoc blocks it.
Slamen throwing strikes but missing.
Ngoc is breathing heavily.

Slamen trying to control the position from guard on top but Ngoc is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Slamen might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Ngoc kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Slamen scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Slamen makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Slamen drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Ngoc manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Slamen has Ngoc in his guard.
Slamen lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Ngoc!
Slamen connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Slamen breaks from Ngoc's wrist control and lands an elbow.
The referee warns Ngoc that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Slamen is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Ngoc to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ngoc shrugs it off.
Slamen in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.


Ngoc is rocked!


It looks like Tran Ngoc has been cut.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Slamen working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Ngoc turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Slamen off and cradles Ngoc's limp body as Slamen celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Troy Slamen!
