Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nick Turas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Perkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nick Turas has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Turas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steve Perkins!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Damien Edna and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Perkins closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Turas did well to prevent Perkins getting side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Turas trying to control here.
Turas keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Perkins tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Turas.
Turas is looking to improve his position.

Perkins stands up from half guard.
Turas tries to close the distance and clinch but Perkins swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Perkins has closed the distance and engaged Turas in a clinch.
Turas fails to pull guard.
A frustrated look appears on Turas's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Perkins is trying to push Turas away but Turas has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Perkins wants to get back to striking at distance but Turas won't allow it.
Perkins is trying to break free.
Turas tries to pull guard but Perkins won't allow it.
Perkins fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Perkins working hard to break the clinch.
Perkins wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Turas keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Perkins's efforts to push away.

Turas breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Perkins moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Turas misses with a double jab.
Perkins finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Perkins leaves Turas with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Turas shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Perkins pinned against the cage. Perkins gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Turas is breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Perkins clinches with his opponent.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Perkins wants to break the clinch but can't.
Perkins wants to break free but Turas has control.
Perkins tries to break free but Turas pushes him back against the cage.
Turas jumps guard but Perkins stands there with Turas around his waist. Turas gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Perkins is pressed up against the cage. Turas has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Perkins down to the mat. Perkins avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Perkins misses with a takedown attempt - Turas sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Perkins bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Turas's head backwards.
Turas takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Perkins fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Turas looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Perkins misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Turas blocks a head kick by Perkins.

Turas tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Perkins lands with a good body shot.

Perkins prevents Turas from breaking the clinch.
Perkins is looking to break free of the clinch but Turas has double underhooks.
Perkins's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Turas has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Perkins avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Turas takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Horrible takedown by Turas or perhaps it was just good defense by Perkins which made him look bad.
Turas throws a right and a left that Perkins avoids nicely.

Turas gets tackled into the cage by Perkins. Perkins maintains the clinch.
Turas stalling in the clinch but Perkins improves position.
Turas keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Perkins's efforts to push away.
Perkins is trying to push Turas away but Turas has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Perkins is trying to break free.
Perkins has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Turas has Perkins pressed against the cage, preventing Perkins from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Turas prevents a takedown attempt there.

Nick Turas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Turas takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Perkins misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Turas.
Turas wants to break the clinch but can't.
Perkins is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Still in the clinch, Perkins scores with a nice short uppercut.
Turas drops down looking for an ankle pick but Perkins pulls his leg out and moves away.

Perkins wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Turas has him pressed against the cage.

Perkins is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Turas comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Steve Perkins showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Turas tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Perkins swivels and escapes.
Perkins has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Perkins fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Turas shoots in looking for a takedown. Perkins tries to sprawl out of it but Turas keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Perkins manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Perkins feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Turass jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Nice straight punches there by Perkins. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Perkins.
Nick Turas is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Turas ducks right into an uppercut from Perkins.
Turas takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Turas takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Perkins thuds a left hand into Turas's body.
Turas moves forwards but Perkins connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Perkins throws a right and a left that Turas avoids nicely.

Perkins lands a nice hook to Turas's body. Turas takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Perkins shoots in looking for a takedown. Turas tries to sprawl out of it but Perkins keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Turas manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Turas shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Turas. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Perkins throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Turas throws a sloppy head kick and Perkins moves out of range easily.
Turas keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Turas has closed the distance and engaged Perkins in a clinch.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Perkins wants to break free but Turas has control.
Turas tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Perkins smiles and moves away.
Nick Turas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Steve Perkins is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Turas takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Steve Perkins comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Perkins has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
