PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Petterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Iceman Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Petterson comes to the cage accompanied by Can't Be Touched - Roy Jones. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alexander Petterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Iceman Liddell!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Nard Betker and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liddell drops his hands momentarily and Petterson takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Sloppy strikes from Liddell. Those never looked like landing.
Liddell throws a series of punches but Petterson moves out of range.
Petterson moves out of range as Liddell strikes.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Petterson.
Petterson blocks a jab.
Petterson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Liddell tries to avoid it but Petterson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Liddell to the ground. Liddell escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Petterson throws a nice looking combination but Liddell bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Liddell swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Liddell keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Liddell stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Liddell wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alexander Petterson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Liddell throws a series of punches but Petterson avoids them all with ease.
Petterson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

The crowd cheers as Liddell lands an impressive looking overhand right. Petterson doesn't seem phased though.

Iceman Liddell is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Liddell swats away the attempt to clinch by Petterson.
Petterson takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Liddell throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Petterson counters with a stiff right hand.
Petterson takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Petterson rushes Liddell and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Liddell tries to break the clinch but Petterson is controlling the position.

Petterson pulls Liddell into guard.
Petterson managing to control the position.
Liddell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Petterson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Petterson wants to sweep here but Liddell controlling him for the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Liddell has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Petterson is proving hard to escape from.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Petterson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Liddell defends it easily.

Petterson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Liddell can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Petterson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alexander Petterson dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Petterson feints a jab promting Liddell to slip. Petterson then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Liddell slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Petterson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Liddell shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Petterson eats them both and turns towards Liddell to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


It looks like Alexander Petterson has been cut.
Some wild striking there from Liddell.
Liddell looks to land a combination. Petterson sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Liddell misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Alexander Petterson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Petterson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Iceman Liddell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Petterson passes Liddell's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Petterson is controlling the pace.
Petterson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Petterson is looking to take a break and control but Liddell is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

We're going to have a standup here because Alexander Petterson wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Petterson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Liddell avoids it really well and circles away.

Still in the clinch, Petterson scores with a nice short uppercut.

Liddell has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
The referee calls for Petterson to work.

Petterson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Petterson manages to end up in side control.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Petterson misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Petterson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Petterson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Liddell cracks Petterson with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Liddell ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Petterson moves away.

Petterson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Liddell is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Liddell has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Petterson is proving hard to escape from.
Liddell must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Petterson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Petterson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Liddell's guard.

Petterson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Petterson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
