Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Takamura Rendan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Rodrigo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Takamura Rendan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Antonio Rodrigo!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Radbod Blank and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodrigo has a takedown stuffed.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Rodrigo.

Rendan scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Rendan controlling from side mount.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Rodrigo tries to improve position but can't.
Rendan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rodrigo on the ground.

Rendan controls the position.
Rendan has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Takamura Rendan.

Rendan shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Rodrigo bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Rendan is breathing heavily.
Rodrigo controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Rendan holds on and takes a little breather.

Rendan on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rendan tries to get out of the position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Antonio Rodrigo has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Rendan manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Rodrigo on his heels. He'll look to pass Rodrigo's guard now, I'm sure.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rendan controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Rodrigo bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rendan's guard.
Rendan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Rodrigo is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Rodrigo drops back looking for a leg! Rendan is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rendan manages to kick Rodrigo off! Rodrigo jumps back into Rendan's guard.

Rodrigo might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Rendan kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rendan has his hands on Rodrigo's head, controlling the position.

Rendan looking for a sweep. Not yet Rendan, not yet.
Rodrigo being controlled here momentarily.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Rodrigo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rodrigo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Rendan looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Rodrigo throws a big right hand that misses.

Rendan looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Rodrigo working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Rodrigo trying to control the position from guard on top but Rendan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Rendan seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Rodrigo wants to control from the top but Rendan keeps moving.
Rendan looking for a sweep. Not yet Rendan, not yet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Rodrigo swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Rodrigo shoots in for a double leg but Rendan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Takamura Rendan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Antonio Rodrigo.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nice takedown defense from Rendan. No joy for Rodrigo on that attempt.
Rodrigo fails with the takedown

and Rendan counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Rodrigo's guard now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Takamura Rendan dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Rendan closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Rendan prevents Rodrigo from improving his position.
Rodrigo moves into full guard.
Rodrigo tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Rodrigo is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rendan is aware though and is defending well.
Rodrigo being controlled here, momentarily.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Takamura Rendan wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Rendan stuffs the takedown.

Rendan dives in and scores a takedown into Rodrigo's guard.
Rendan not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Rendan's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Rodrigo is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Rendan rolls with it to try and escape but Rodrigo cranks on the arm and Rendan is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Antonio Rodrigo!
