PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stephen Rollins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Spiderman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the ring it seems that Stephen Rollins has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Stephen Rollins seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, John Spiderman!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Ackerman and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spiderman misses with a hook.
Spiderman misses with a series of wild punches.
Spiderman misses with a combination

and Rollins counters by clinching up.
Rollins keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Spiderman's efforts to push away.
Spiderman takes an elbow to the forehead.


It looks like John Spiderman has been cut.
Rollins has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Spiderman avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Spiderman is trying to break free.
Spiderman can't break the clinch.

Rollins successfully pulls guard.

Rollins is edging up against the ropes. He's using the ropes to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Spiderman wants to break free but Rollins has control.

Rollins tightens his grip and picks Spiderman up, before dumping him to the ground. Spiderman manages to land in guard.
Rollins controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Spiderman working for a triangle but Rollins defends it easily.

Rollins gets to his feet. Spiderman looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Rollins gets a clinch.

Rollins manages to break the clinch.
Spiderman swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Rollins counters by moving into the clinch.
Spiderman wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Rollins has picked Spiderman up - he's going for a ride! Rollins dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Rollins is figuring out what he wants to do next.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rollins missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Rollins is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Stephen Rollins wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Rollins manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Spiderman on his heels. He'll look to pass Spiderman's guard now, I'm sure.

Spiderman is working an open guard so Rollins takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Spiderman cracks Rollins with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Rollins shoots in looking for a takedown. Spiderman tries to sprawl out of it but Rollins keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Spiderman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Spiderman lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rollins circles away quickly and effectively.
Spiderman looks gassed!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rollins fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stephen Rollins. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Spiderman's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Spiderman duly obliges.


It looks like Stephen Rollins has been cut.

Rollins drives through and clinches with Spiderman against the ropes.
Rollins lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
The referee calls for Rollins to work.
Spiderman tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Rollins just stands there and leans against the ropes.

Rollins turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Rollins manages to end up in side control.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Rollins decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Rollins shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Rollins advances to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rollins is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Spiderman tries to get to full guard but Rollins has control of the leg.
Rollins perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Stephen Rollins just wasn't active enough.

Rollins looking to score a takedown here. Spiderman is defending well but Rollins drives through and ends up in Spiderman's guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Rollins not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Spiderman looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Rollins passes into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stephen Rollins dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Rollins closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Spiderman quickly recovers to half guard.

Spiderman is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Rollins pulls his head out easily.

Spiderman looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Rollins passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Spiderman!
Rollins looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Rollins raining down shots from the mount!
Rollins controlling the position easily from mount.
Spiderman is breathing heavily.

Rollins seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Spiderman for as long as he can get away with.
Stephen Rollins overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Spiderman is trying desperately to improve position.

Rollins stands up from mount. Strange move.

Rollins shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Spiderman manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Rollins controls from within his opponent's guard.
Rollins advances to half guard.
Still in half guard, Rollins seems content to control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rollins passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Spiderman!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rollins has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Rollins get's back to his feet.

Rollins instigates a clinch.
Rollins creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Spiderman's defenses.


That has opened up John Spiderman's cut even more.

Rollins drags the fight down to the ground.
Rollins lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Spiderman!
Rollins works his way to his opponent's back.
Rollins is riding his opponent, not letting Spiderman buck him off.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Rollins is looking for the choke from the back position but Spiderman is controlling his hands well.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Spiderman is in bad spot here.

Rollins looking for the rear naked choke. And he's got it! Spiderman taps!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Stephen Rollins!
