Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Richard Burgess (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Hammonok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hammonok has chosen Dreams as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Pete Hammonok!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Ackerman and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burgess checks a leg kick.
Burgess shoots in for a takedown but Hammonok shows good takedown defense.

Hammonok shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Burgess manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Hammonok drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hammonok jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hammonok drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Burgess manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hammonok has Burgess in his guard.

Burgess is looking to work some ground and pound but Hammonok has wrist control.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hammonok holds on and takes a little breather.
Burgess sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hammonok's guard.

Burgess is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Hammonok is refusing to be controlled, as Burgess sits in half guard.

We're going to have a standup here because Richard Burgess wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Burgess shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hammonok sprawls well. Hammonok wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Burgess gets slowly back to his feet.

Burgess feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Burgess got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hammonok has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Burgess has managed to get both his arms back between Hammonok's legs - danger averted.

Hammonok shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Burgess as he jumps to the side.
Hammonok lands with a hook. Burgess tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Burgess lands with a nice combination. Hammonok backs away looking to recover.


It looks like Pete Hammonok has been cut.
Burgess shoots in but Hammonok avoids the takedown attempt easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
