Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dane Cook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alek Mitchell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cook comes to the cage accompanied by Lifeless by 12 Stones. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dane Cook!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Alek Mitchell!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, William Peck and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cook fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mitchell manages to avoid it.
Mitchell throws a looping overhand right but Cook ducks down to avoid it.
Cook misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Cook misses with a straight left.
The fighters circle momentarily. Cook darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Mitchell takes one to the side of the head.
Cook throws a sloppy head kick and Mitchell moves out of range easily.
Mitchell keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Cook.
Cook lunges at Mitchell with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Mitchell's hand.
Mitchell takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Cook is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Mitchell.
A combination from Cook does no damage.
Cook throws a right and a left that Mitchell avoids nicely.
Mitchell looks to throw the jab but Cook is out of range.
Mitchell uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cook.

Mitchell shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Cook's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Mitchell sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Mitchell forces his way into half guard.

Mitchell is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mitchell is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mitchell takes a little break here. Cook wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

You can see the frustration on Cook's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Mitchell is looking to take a break and control but Cook is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Mitchell is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cook knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Mitchell working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Cook wants to control but Mitchell postures up.

Cook is not content to let Mitchell control the position.
Cook tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Mitchell wants to control the pace but Cook is squirming around nicely.

Mitchell goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Cook is on top in guard.
Cook wants to pass the guard but Mitchell is keeping the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mitchell is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Cook is aware though and is defending well.

Mitchell is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Cook avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alek Mitchell dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


A punch lands to the side of Mitchell 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Mitchell takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Mitchell takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Cook lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mitchell circles away quickly and effectively.
Mitchell pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Cook sizes up Mitchell with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Cook lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Mitchell backs up against the cage.
Dane Cook seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice cross by Cook.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Cook swings for the body but Mitchell moves out of range.
A nice combination there by Cook.
Cook rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mitchell moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Cook misses with a two punch combination.
The crowd cheers as Cook lands an impressive looking overhand right. Mitchell doesn't seem phased though.
Cook pivots, looking for a leg kick but Mitchell is out of range and Cook settles back down.

Mitchell shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Cook manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Mitchell postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Cook is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mitchell, into his guard.

Cook wants to pass the guard but Mitchell is keeping the position.

Cook drops back, looking for a kneebar! Mitchell looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Mitchell looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Mitchell!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cook is trying to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mitchell remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Mitchell is staying tight to Cook's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Mitchell tries for a kimura but Cook is defending well.

Mitchell wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cook keeps working.

Mitchell is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Cook will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Cook is not content to let Mitchell control the position.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dane Cook will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


A decent looking cross lands there for Cook.
Mitchell takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Cook ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Mitchell takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Cook throws a body punch but Mitchell moves out of range.
Cook clobbers Mitchell with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Mitchell throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Cook's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Cook duly obliges.
Cook lands with a right hand.
Cook tests Mitchell's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Cook throws a right and a left that both miss.
Mitchell walks into a stiff left hand from Cook.
Mitchell misses with a hook. Cook ducked under it nicely.
Dane Cook is winning the standup battle so far.

Cook lands with a nice combination. Mitchell backs away looking to recover.
Mitchell misses with a straight left.
Cook lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Mitchell ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Mitchell avoids the head kick by Cook.
Dane Cook is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Left hook, right uppercut from Cook.
Mitchell misses with a body shot.
Dane Cook is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Mitchell scores with a takedown into Cook's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Mitchell is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Cook has managed to free his arm - good work.

Cook is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Mitchell is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Cook is looking for a sweep. Mitchell is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Mitchell looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
