PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Travis Jaeger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kurt Kendall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kendall is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Kool Moe Dee - I Go To Work. Kurt Kendall struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 187.7lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Travis Jaeger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kurt Kendall!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Jonathan Paton and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jaeger throws a head kick but Kendall moves out of range.
Jaeger waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Kendall.

Kendall clinches.
Jaeger with a knee to the head.
Jaeger tries to score a body lock takedown but Kendall shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Jaeger looking to throw knees to the head but Kendall is blocking nicely.
Jaeger comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Kendall blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Jaeger gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Kendall pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jaeger throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Kendall's head.
Kendall takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jaeger misses with a straight left.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jaeger pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Kendall back to the cage. Jaeger follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Jaeger fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kendall sprawls well initially but Jaeger persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Jaeger working over Kendall with some ground and pound. Kendall looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Jaeger thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kendall's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jaeger is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kendall sees it coming and defends easily.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jaeger seems to be looking for submissions.
Jaeger not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Jaeger passes to side control.

Jaeger is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kendall knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Jaeger misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

The ground and pound from Jaeger seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Jaeger goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Kendall has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Jaeger but great work by Kendall.
Jaeger manages to get back to half guard.
Jaeger is trying to maintain the position but Kendall is very close to passing his half guard.
Kendall tries to stand but can't do so whilst Jaeger controls his leg.
Kendall is looking to pass Jaeger's guard but actually Jaeger recovers to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jaeger preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Kendall is sitting in close to Jaeger's body. Jaeger has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Kendall is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Kendall is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Jaeger.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Travis Jaeger!
