Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Dance (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zahir Nolam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nolam is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Mo Money mo Problems. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Zahir Nolam enters the cage!

1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Dance! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zahir Nolam! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dance tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nolam sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dance somewhat. Nolam tries to close the distance and clinch but Dance swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Dance shoots in for a takedown but Nolam shows good takedown defense. Nolam is looking to clinch. Dance swats away the attempt to clinch by Nolam. Nolam tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Dance shoots in for a double leg but Nolam sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Dance. That's going to take a lot out of him. Dance throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Zahir Nolam seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nolam tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dance swats him away and circles back towards the center. Nolam lands a nice shot to the body.

I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Dance working the ground and pound. Nolam is looking for a sweep. Nolam is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Dance off and has taken his back! Nolam looks gassed! Nolam is throwing shots to the body but Dance manages to wriggle free. Nolam pounces on him again and ends up in Dance's guard. Nolam postures up in Dance's guard and throws a big left but Dance blocks it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dance is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Nolam looking for submissions off his back. Dance takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Nolam looking for submissions off his back. Dance controlling the pace.

Dance shoots in for a takedown but Nolam shows good takedown defense. Nolam gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Dance has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Nolam is trying to keep an underhook but Dance manages to get the takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nolam wants to get back to full guard but Dance has passed into side control. Nolam takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. A lull in the action here as Dance stalls from top position. Nolam is looking for a sweep. Nolam has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Nolam is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nolam looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Nolam is breathing heavily. Still in half guard, Dance seems content to control. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Dance lands a nice short elbow. Nolam looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Dance controlling the action here. Dance has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Nolam with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Dance works his way into full mount! He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Nolam for as long as he can get away with.

Nolam tries to clinch up but Dance circles away and keeps his distance. Nolam tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Dance manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Nolam tries to clinch there but Dance circles away.

Dance thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Dance working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Nolam's head. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dance can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Nolam takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Dance is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nolam looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Dance has picked Nolam up and slammed him! Nolam can't keep hold of the triangle and Dance manages to pass to side control! Dance working the body and head with strikes. Dance connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Nolam some visible discomfort.
Dance is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Nolam taking a bit of punishment here - Dance scoring with strikes. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nolam can do anything to dispel that myth. Nolam takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Dance looks up at the clock and then as Nolam takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Dance smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Dance is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Nolam's shoulder. That is not cool. Dance working the ground and pound from side control. Nolam is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Dance's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Dance lands with a punch from half guard. Nolam looking for submissions off his back. Dance working Nolam over with strikes. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Dance in particular looking to stall. Nolam looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well, if Dance is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
