Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ed Sterns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rayray McDonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 1, fighting out of New York, Ed Sterns! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rayray McDonald! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Jonathan Paton and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sterns throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Sterns tries a low kick but McDonald avoids it. Sterns shoots for a double leg takedown but McDonald sprawls well. He's pushed Sterns's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. McDonald shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Sterns throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

McDonald slips nicely into half guard. Sterns throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

McDonald is looking to take a break and control but Sterns is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sterns makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Sterns. Sterns trying to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round. Sterns being controlled here, momentarily. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sterns throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Sterns striking off his back but it's not causing McDonald any problems. McDonald trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. McDonald is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Sterns had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. McDonald is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Sterns Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take McDonald's back instead. Sterns has the hooks in. McDonald is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Sterns just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sterns working for the choke. Sterns has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Sterns is trying to stick to McDonald's back but McDonald is turning into Sterns. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Sterns's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by McDonald. McDonald passes into half guard. McDonald wants to pass the guard but Sterns is defending well. Sterns is not content to let McDonald control the position. Sterns moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Sterns working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McDonald doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Sterns is tightening it up a little... McDonald has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! McDonald reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! McDonald taps out! nice BJJ there by Sterns!
