Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ryan Mccarthey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pasi Nurminen! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nurminen wants to clinch. A head kick misses from Mccarthey. Mccarthey will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Mccarthey tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Ryan Mccarthey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mccarthey tries to close the distance and clinch up but Nurminen swats him away and circles back towards the center. Nurminen drives through and clinches with Mccarthey against the cage.
Nurminen is struggling to control the position. Nurminen receives a warning from the referee for stalling. Mccarthey looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Nurminen lands a body shot. Mccarthey tries to circle away but Nurminen has him pinned against the cage. Nurminen working some nice short punches in the clinch. Mccarthey tries to break the clinch but Nurminen is controlling the position. Mccarthey is trying to force a seperation but Nurminen has the dominant position. Nurminen lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nurminen lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Nurminen lands a right hand. Nurminen lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Mccarthey backwards. Mccarthey with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Nurminen stalling the fight.
A nice left hand lands by Nurminen.
Mccarthey is rocked! Nurminen lands with a short head shot on the inside. Oh Mccarthey is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Nurminen dips a shoulder and cracks Mccarthey with a mighty uppercut! Mccarthey falls back against the cage and Nurminen unloads with a barrage of strikes! Mccarthey is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Nurminen screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pasi Nurminen!
