Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nicolas Gibbs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey De Andreas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gibbs's entrance music is Amazing by Kanye West. A fine choice. De Andreas has chosen Free Bird by Leonard Skynard as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nicolas Gibbs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joey De Andreas!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, John Kavanagh and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Andreas fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
De Andreas rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gibbs moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
De Andreas misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
De Andreas chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Gibbs can pounce on him.
Gibbs keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

De Andreas fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gibbs sprawls well initially but De Andreas persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

De Andreas drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gibbs manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now De Andreas has Gibbs in his guard.

De Andreas throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

De Andreas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gibbs doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gibbs manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Joey De Andreas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gibbs will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

De Andreas closes the distance and clinches up with Gibbs, looking for a takedown. De Andreas pushes Gibbs against the cage but Gibbs circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Gibbs tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

De Andreas feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Gibbs has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. De Andreas avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

De Andreas shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gibbs as he jumps to the side.

De Andreas closes the distance and clinches up with Gibbs, looking for a takedown. De Andreas pushes Gibbs against the cage but Gibbs circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
De Andreas will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Gibbs moves in looking to clinch but De Andreas pushes him off.

Gibbs throws a leg kick which misses De Andreas's front leg but catches the back leg as De Andreas tries to avoid it.
Gibbs shoots in and drives through. De Andreas sprawls well.
De Andreas shoots in for a takedown but Gibbs shows good takedown defense.
De Andreas tries for a takedown but Gibbs sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
De Andreas takes a kick to the side of the head.
De Andreas throws a series of punches but Gibbs moves out of range.
Horrible takedown by De Andreas or perhaps it was just good defense by Gibbs which made him look bad.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Joey De Andreas will probably get the nod.

De Andreas lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Gibbs down.

De Andreas tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no De Andreas has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

De Andreas takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

De Andreas is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
De Andreas slips a nice elbow through Gibbs's hands, connecting with Gibbs's forehead.

A close second round but Joey De Andreas will probably get the nod - 10:9.

De Andreas is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gibbs is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gibbs has escaped and now he's on top!
De Andreas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Gibbs wants to stand but De Andreas is controlling his posture from full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Nicolas Gibbs.
I think De Andreas has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
