Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nathan Carey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chuck Moss! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Moss. No joy for Carey on that attempt. Carey closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Moss to the mat! Moss manages to get full guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Carey stops Moss from standing up. Moss working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Carey. Carey thows a big elbow that misses. Carey wants to pass the guard but Moss is keeping the position. Carey postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Carey landing with the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carey pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Moss is keeping the position for now. Moss preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Moss utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Carey with a flurry of punches that miss. Carey trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carey keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Moss's head. Carey postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Carey accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Carey trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Moss utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Carey has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Carey accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Carey postures up in Moss's guard and throws a big left but Moss blocks it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carey throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Moss works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Carey thows a big elbow that misses. Carey is looking to work some ground and pound but Moss has wrist control. Carey throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Carey postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Carey throws and elbow that misses. Moss uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Carey's guard. Nice move by Moss! Carey might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carey throws his legs up looking for a submission but Moss uses it to pass to side control.
Carey wants to get back to his feet. Moss wants to stand but Carey has his arm trapped. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Moss really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carey. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Carey manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nathan Carey dominated that round. That's time! Carey's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Carey shoots in for a takedown but Moss shows good takedown defense. Carey circles away from the clinch attempt.
Carey shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Moss stuffs the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nathan Carey. That's going to take a lot out of him. Moss defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Carey. Carey shoots in and drives through. Moss sprawls well. Carey fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Moss closes the distance and pushes Carey back into the cage. Moss landing knees to the head.
It looks like Nathan Carey has been cut. Moss lands a good knee to the midsection. Carey won't want to take too many of those. Moss with a knee to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A knee to the head by Moss.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Carey takes an elbow to the temple. Carey goes for a takedown attempt but Moss pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Moss tries to clinch but Carey moves out of range. Chuck Moss is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Carey swats away the attempt to clinch by Moss. Moss wants to clinch up but Carey keeps it at a distance. Carey tries for a takedown but Moss sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Nathan Carey is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Carey keeps the fight on the outside.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Moss moves in looking to clinch but Carey pushes him off. Carey fails with a takedown attempt. Moss tries to close the distance and clinch but Carey swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. That kick from Moss tenderised Carey's leg. Carey is trying to keep his angry face on. Carey avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Moss stuffs the takedown attempt from Carey. Carey gets slowly back to his feet. Moss doesn't manage to clinch there - Carey circles away.
Moss gets in close and instigates a clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Moss slowing the pace effectively. Moss lands a good knee to the midsection. Carey won't want to take too many of those. Chuck Moss seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far. A knee to the head by Moss.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Carey takes a knee right on the jaw!
