PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Darragh McCardle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bone Dust (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think McCardle might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Your Demise - Miles Away. Dust has chosen Pinch Me as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Darragh McCardle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Bone Dust!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Paul Tew and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McCardle moves into the clinch successfully.

McCardle gets control of Dust's arms and successfully pulls guard. McCardle will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Dust stops McCardle from standing up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dust being controlled here momentarily.
McCardle tries to land a sweep but no joy.
McCardle is pulling down on Dust's head. It's preventing any offense from Dust, at least for the moment.
Dust wants to control from the top but McCardle keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Darragh McCardle wasn't doing enough on the ground.

McCardle drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dust is trying to get back to half guard.
An elbow from McCardle crashes against the mat.
McCardle misses with the ground and pound.
Dust is looking to regain half guard here but McCardle keeps moving and retains side control.
McCardle controlling from side mount.
Dust is trying to improve his position.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dust tries to bench press McCardle off him but McCardle keeps the position.
Dust manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Dust avoiding damage under a succession of punches from McCardle.
Dust makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Dust.

Dust has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McCardle can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
This has been an exciting period of action!

McCardle avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Dust looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
McCardle not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
McCardle knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dust on the ground.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dust wants to sweep but no luck.
Dust is trying to control the position from the bottom.
McCardle slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
McCardle slips nicely into half guard.
Dust is looking to control McCardle's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Dust avoid being mounted?
McCardle wants to pass the guard but Dust is defending well.
Dust tries to roll over but McCardle keeps him under control.
Dust wants to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McCardle performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

McCardle manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Dust on his heels. He'll look to pass Dust's guard now, I'm sure.
McCardle is breathing heavily.
McCardle stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dust swivels though and keeps the full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dust is on top in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McCardle keeping moving, preventing Dust from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Bone Dust will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Dust will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

McCardle closes the distance and clinches.
McCardle really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

McCardle manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Dust wants to control from the top but McCardle keeps moving.
McCardle looking for a sweep. Not yet McCardle, not yet.
McCardle will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Dust wants to control from the top but McCardle keeps moving.
Dust passes McCardle's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Dust seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but McCardle does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
McCardle makes his way to full guard. A much better position for McCardle.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Dust drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and McCardle dives on top into guard.
Dust looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Dust is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! McCardle has his hands clasped together but Dust extends an breaks McCardle's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Dust.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Bone Dust!
