PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lyoto Andres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dominic Estes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Estes has chosen Shout by Disturbed as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lyoto Andres!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 1, fighting out of New York, Dominic Estes!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Dean Styles and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Estes fails to land with a series of punches.
Andres misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Estes fails with the takedown.

Andres tries to keep at a distance but Estes has taken the fight into the clinch.
Estes tries for a takedown. No joy.

Andres pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Andres shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Estes but Estes pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Estes misses with a body shot.
Andres tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Estes swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lyoto Andres. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Andres shoots in but no luck this time.
The fight stays on the outside here - Estes looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Andres shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Estes looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Estes shoots in looking for a takedown but Andres manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Estes's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Andres gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Andres comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Estes is trying to drag Andres to the mat but Andres just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Estes goes for a takedown in the clinch but Andres prevents it.
Estes looks gassed!
Estes changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Andres fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Estes shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Andres but Andres pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Estes stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Estes wants it to stay on the feet.

Estes gets a clinch.

Andres tightens his grip and picks Estes up, before dumping him to the ground. Estes manages to land in guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Estes avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Estes working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Andres.
Andres has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Andres tries to stand but Estes is controlling from the bottom.
Estes is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Andres is controlling him.
Andres throwing strikes from guard but Estes blocks nicely.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We're going to have a standup here because Lyoto Andres wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Estes gets a double leg takedown into Andres's guard.
Andres on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Andres tries to get out of the position.
Andres preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Estes is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Andres tries to strike from the bottom.

Andres wriggles free and stands up.
Danga de danga de dang - Estes scores with a four punch combination!
Horrible takedown by Andres or perhaps it was just good defense by Estes which made him look bad.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Estes lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Andres at a distance.

Estes has managed to clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Andres throws an elbow that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Dominic Estes will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Estes stuffs the takedown attempt from Andres. Andres gets slowly back to his feet.
Andres throws a push kick but Estes slaps the foot to one side.
Lyoto Andres is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Estes shoots in for a takedown but Andres shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Estes throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Estes scores with a takedown into Andres's guard.
Andres has Estes pulled in close to control his posture.

Andres has his foot on Estes's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Estes works his way back into a safe position though.
Estes in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Estes working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Estes throwing strikes but missing.
Andres avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Estes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Andres. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Andres bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Estes's guard.

Estes has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Andres off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Estes gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Andres breaks from the clinch.
Andres takes one to the side of the head.

Estes closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Estes lands in his opponent's guard.
Estes postures up in Andres's guard and throws a big left but Andres blocks it.
Estes postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Estes postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Dominic Estes has got the better of the ground game so far.

Estes throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Estes working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Estes must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Andres has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Estes can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Estes lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Estes throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Andres works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Andres is on top in guard.
Andres in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Andres prevents Estes from getting back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Andres decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Estes, up you get!
Andres changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Estes tries to avoid it but Andres manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Estes to the ground. Estes escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Andres drops his hands momentarily and Estes takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Estes pushes Andres up against the cage in a clinch.
Andres prevents the takedown attempt.
Andres gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Estes looking for a takedown.
Lyoto Andres has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dominic Estes.

Andres breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Estes has closed the distance and engaged Andres in a clinch.
Estes tries for a takedown. No joy.
Andres gets underhooks to prevent Estes's takedown attempt.
Estes drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Estes is working for takedown but Andres is calmly controlling the position for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dominic Estes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Estes throws a sloppy strike and Andres has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Estes is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Andres!
